Re: LZH or ZIP
LHZ Shell has much nicer interface than ST-ZIP, and supports long filenames which ST-ZIP does not.

Re: Editors and GDOS (NVDI)
GDOS handles the fonts, not the programs itself, your installation is correct. But there are 2 kind of fonts: bitmap fonts and scalable vector fonts. QED can work with both types, but it seems that Everest can't. There is really nothing You can do.

If you're updating from Gemulator, Aranym might be a better option than hAtari.

Re: Fast ST-RAM idea
I see two possible options how it could work:
1) double port RAM, obviously
2) RAM that is clocked X times faster than falcon bus. Consider 2x clock: MB get even cycles, 060 get odd cycles. But given how DRAM access work, I'm not sure it is possible.

Fast ST-RAM idea
I'm not a HW guy, so I'm not even sure if it is feasible. Currently all access from 060 to ST-RAM goes through MB. What if we bypass it for not IO range? Double channel RAM could be used (or just ram that is x times faster then ST-RAM is) . So with MB path having priority, 060 accesses to ST-RAM cou...

Re: [A]tari [G]ame [T]ools - 2D prototyping engine for STE
Are there current state of the art commercial compilers for 68k? Usually I use commercial ARM compiler instead of GNU due to the code optimization and overall quality are far beyond free compilers. Obviously, commercial ones can be expensive or hard to acquire... but I am curious about 68k There ar...

Environment string is inherited between parent and child process. Your process just gets copy of environment of its parent.

Re: Shortcut to Eden Station in Frontier: Elite 2 ?
There is a famous 'wormhole' bug, a 16 bit integer overflow in fact that allows jumping by 655.35 ligth years. You need to find a system that will make a good triangle, so both your source and destination are close to 655.35 light years from it, and use it as shortcut

1. What is the question?
2. What is the question?
3. Unfortunately CoxmosEx does not work well with FreeMiNT. You can try setting N drive to OLDTOSFS in MINT.CFG, but I'm not sure it will work.

Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari
I'm not 100% sure, but SCUMM games rarely played more than one sample at a time. That means that no real mixing is neccessary in most cases. So, if skip SCUMMVM mixer, preprocess all the samples, 50kHz DMA sound could be possible for free

I uderstand there is a slowdown, I'm wondering where it is coming from. Playing DMA samples on STE is free, so what I'm askin, what is ScummVM problem with it?

. Is there a chance for 256 colors version for Falcon/TT? Or maybe even 640x480x256 vesrion? (I remember Indy4 for Mac 68k had 640x240x256 version)

Re: ROM address map
The cleaner way would be to make print text using system function and then grab it from screen. There are many TOS versions and font data may be all over the place.
But, the best way woud be to embed your own fonts, as system fonts could be changed by the user.
