Re: 520stm Troubleshooting

This is the video cable I purchased. Did I get the wrong one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-ST-High-Quality-Composite-Video-RCA-A-V-TV-Video-lead-OFC-Cable-Cord/260830043045 That should be fine for an STm, I think, but not the original ST since the PAL encoder is only fitted in machines with a mod...

MagXNET source code

Was the source for the port of MintNet to MagiC every made available -- I can't seem to find a copy online.

(Also where can the latest iteration of the MintNet source code be found).

Atari SM144 monitor cable

I’m just about to replace the 13 pin DIN plug on the monitor cable for an SM144 monitor since the existing connector has disintegrated (the plastic holding the pins has shattered). Looking at what remains of the cable, it appears that pin 8 was wired as a ground pin (to the outer shield of the cable...

Re: Falcon 030 stopped for 17 years. does not recognize floppy or HD

When I got my falcon030 back in 2007, neither the floppy nor internal IDE drive worked. I tracked this down to the ide drive having failed. Unplugging the drive caused the floppy to spring to life, so it might be worth trying too boot the machine without the HDD attached and see if the floppy then w...

Atari Riebl network card schematics

Does anyone know if the schematics for the various iterations of the Atari Riebl card are available? Specifically, the MegaST version since I would like to modify it to use a different address range. I believe by default it uses 0xE00000 which clashes with TOS 2.06… Although I'd be interested in the...

Re: Blitter routine OK on STE, KO on Falcon (skew register)

What happens if you rename your program to end with .TOS? Wondering if GEM is using the blitter to draw the mouse pointer and that’s corrupting your configuration of the blitter?

Re: looking for Video Master animations

The reason why the sound does not match the images is that the Video Master card digitizes sound and images in two different passes. So it's hard to record exactly. Only with the Falcon, you can get sound+images at the same time. IIRC, the ST version of the VideoMaster software had the 'Rec. Film' ...

Re: Atari SC1224 and RGB Questions

To be honest, you may well get away feeding the monitor directly from the LM1881 feeding the HSync input from the composite sync output of the LM1881. I used to drive an SC1435 like this for several years …

Re: TimeWorks 2 Publisher on Hatari

Hi folks, Just looking in here because this thread was mentioned on the EmuTOS mailing list. I found a legal copy of Timeworks 2 that I had been given many years ago by another user. I installed it using Hatari 2.2.1 (4MB MegaSTe emulation, mono monitor) and TOS 2.06 on a Linux system. It initialis...

Atari Sparrow DSP Board

Idek's post about his Atari Sparrow DSP board over the weekend prompted me to do a little digging and I found this interesting diagram on the Atari HQ CD -- obviously intended for a fitting document for the prototype. Not much new information other than (judging by the filename, DSPBOARD.GEM) that i...

Re: FS: ATARI Prototype Sparrow Rev. A

How nice! This looks like a final version, when comparing to this setup: We can see that the CPU card doesn't contain neither the DSP nor FPU yet. That clearly has a 68000 installed, but I think these cards give us a clue into how the Sparrow and Falcon were developed. We know the Sparrow is a heav...

Re: STFM doesn't boot, CPU halted. How to find what's going wrong?

Using a logic analyser to figure out how far into the boot process it's getting sounds like another promising line of inquiry. I don't own a logic analyser, as you've guessed, but might be able to find someone who'll let me borrow one. I bought a cheap 8-bit clone of a Salae logic analyser off Amaz...

Re: MagicMac

The problem is that you wont even be able to compile a new version of AtariX on newer Macs. But it won't be easy to fix that. I managed early in the year to get a version the compiles and runs in 64-bit up to a point… I got it to boot the kernel and run up until it tried to load the screen drivers…...

Re: HBS240/640 L1 design

the HBS640 manual claims that it is using 64KB cache for data and instructions. And indeed two KM682578 32K x8 SRAMS are populated on the PCB. But still they use 8K x8 71B74 tag RAMs. I checked the KM682578 A14 line and it is indeed connected to CPU's A15 - which is what I would expect. So it's pro...

Re: DIY Fpu Unit for STFM - possible?

Have you thought about making this as a board that plugs into the ROM sockets and the ROM sockets plug into? You can pick up a lot of the signals needed from there (A1—A17, D0-D15), which would mean you'd have to pick up a few signals from elsewhere… You'd also be able to decode TOS 2.06 and IDE on ...

How does the Hypercache know that if specific data word is stored in the L2 or not? As I see this is the job of these TagRAMs. How did Pro VME without? TAG RAM is just static RAM with integral comparators that compare the data stored in memory with the data on the data bus to see if they are equal ...
