My family live in Glossop (Ok, Gamesley - it's the same for me but not for the snobs of Glossop apparently!).
If you get the train then come out of the train station, turn right and walk down the cobbles. There's usually a nice rank of private taxis outside the Norfolk pub.

Yeh, Cobbledick's games found themselves on a number of Serenade menus: Mindlock - #7 Match Maker - #17 Super Match Maker - #25 Quizical - #29b Quest For Knowledge - #34 Quizical 2 - #36 There were a few more on their menus but David Cobbledick removed his games from the public domain so the menus w...

Sounds like Agent USA to me but that's an Atari 8-bit game.

Neon Lights #22
Don't think this has been available elsewhere.
It was corrupt when I converted it but managed to fix it by copying files from some Serenade menus.

Impact UK were started by Flintstone (of Serenade) and Den.H. They were originally called Impact until someone pointed out there was already a crew by that name! They mostly did demo compilation disks but later branched out into Educational and Art disks (I kid you not!). I thought the educational d...

But a lot of crappy people showed up as well, guys like Impact UK, Adrenalin UK, Serenade, Golden Dawn, The Energetic and others kicked butt with ripped intro codes (mainly done by Mac Sys Data of POV). They filled disx with damn old stuff and pictures, senseless educational tools and programms and ...

Best PD compilers?
Out of interest, who is your best PD disk compilers? Off the top of my head I remember Neon Lights (the original), Adrenalin, Serenade and Golden Dawn. Plus, did you know about these guys at the time, or only through the emulator-period? Me? I'd go for the Serenade Gods myself! But... I was a member...

Two disks I know it's on are:
Serenade PD Disk 25
Adrenalin UK PD Disk 12
Both are available on the Atari Legend FTP
ftp://ftp.atarilegend.org/
...under /Pub/Game Compilations (menus)
Which disk would I recommend? Oh, the Serenade one of course!
I'll get me coat.

Just noticed that the most recently uploaded Serenade menus are in 11 sector/80 track. All Serenade menus were 10 sector/82 track, so this format isn't necessary. Doesn't really matter if running through emulation but may cause problems if trying to convert the disks to run on an ST. If this is the ...

Yeh, they made mod disks. I believe they gave up after 51 or 52 disks. They all use Mac Sys Data's oh-so-familiar mod player code. Though, they did cotton onto Noise Pakker so they managed to fit more on a disk than most (from disk 23 onwards). I have disks 23, 24, 28, 31, 32, 33, 35, 37, 40, 41, 42...

It was always pretty obvious they were a front for someone, but I had no idea it was the Golden Dawn.lotek_style wrote:people who ran Ancient Celts also did
a PD compilation group called GOLDEN DAWN.
Perhaps if they'd put a few faulty files on their disks we'd have had an idea who they were!

Oh, get me!

Serenade #14: Zedonoid, FMC Trading, Cyber Snake, ST Vegas, Balls, Darklyte, Stomp, Color Clash, Burger Dream. That's probably it. I believe the only missing menus now are 12, 38, 51, 69 and 73 and it's doubtful they'll ever appear because my disks appear to be corrupt and the chances of anyone else...

Serenade #13: Don't Bank On It, Public Investigations, Isthorn, Treasure of the New Kingdom, A Night on the Town, Enchanted Realm. I have Sereande #3v2, is this what you require Lotek? I haven't a clue who he is but A-Ha did some hacks on the Atari 8-bit. He was one of the first hackers to transfer a 64k cassette to disk (I believe it was 'Worm in Paradise'). To hack programs that used the extra 16k of the 800XL (as opposed to to the 48k 800 series) required bank-switching, which ...
