Re: Thunder Storm IDE/Fastram Interface for Atari TT

A grand for a nice TT is a deal, especially with new 3rd party hardware and ET driver's available. Was thinking about the $3K Falcon comment. They are like vintage motocross racers. $1,000 to get into one, to restore/upgrade easily another $2K. Thing with eBay, at least with "most" sellers...

Re: Real World uses for TT Ram in Atari TT030

Do you mean CPU cache, or does the "Puffer" board act as a hardware buffer between the PAK fast RAM to ST RAM? Oh okay, gotcha. Yeah, I was referring to the CPU cache. Thanks. I don't have the Frak board installed so no PuPLa either... PuPLa, knew it was some strange name :) When it comes...

Was it "Tenox"?
Yes :)
Not implying anything negative.
AIRC, the data was recovered, but insufficient to actually work with.
Can can imagine a nightmare, but worth the effort.

Re: MyAES 0.98 final version

Ok, great timing :)
I'm chasing an AES memory allocation problem under TOS 4.04, real hardware, Afterburner 040, 46/23 MHz, 64MB fast RAM.
This will save a lot of hardware swapping if the problem goes away :)
Thank you again.

Re: A couple abandonware apps

I can't get the Falcon IDE support working on hAtari, and not owning one in real life, I can't test that :D It also doesn't work with the PPera IDE drives on a regular ST, so. (I did read the manual with the IDE stuff before I asked!) OK. The XHDI thing, I was just curious about, relating to BigDOS...

@ Rustynutt "Geneva, not so sure about that. I did the $75 contribution for hard disk retrieval, but never really saw anything from it." Not quite sure what you mean here as Geneva (complete) is free to download and use...as is NeoDesk. http://www4.pair.com/gribnif/files/NeoDesk-4.06-with...

Re: Real World uses for TT Ram in Atari TT030

Myself not sure, but the buffer on the TT is hardware, not a software dependent buffer as on Falcon, PAK's, ect. Not sure I'm following you here, but the Pak 68/3 boards have a 32kb cache (hardware), but maybe you're talking about something else? :-? Do you mean CPU cache, or does the "Puffer&...

Re: A couple abandonware apps

The website said it supports ide and xhdi, but neither appear to work. If answered already apologies. Don't think any versions (aka, ones that came with the ICD link) support IDE. V6.5.5, ICD Pro surely supports IDE, at least on the Falcon. The XHDI question I think revolves around the ability for ...

Re: Real World uses for TT Ram in Atari TT030

This came up during a DFB discussion. Myself not sure, but the buffer on the TT is hardware, not a software dependent buffer as on Falcon, PAK's, ect. So it is by design to integrate the two. it depends what we mean by "the buffer". Forget the memory sizing used (32 or 64kb?), think HD Dr...

Re: to MultiTOS... or not to MultiTOS... that is the Question

It's nice for historical value (or for extreme app compatibility check) but as OL says, there are better options now - N.AES (abandonware), XaAES, MyAES, even Geneva. Not a year ago purchased N.AES direct from Woller. He provides a download link to a rather large, but inclusive archive. It was the ...

Re: Real World uses for TT Ram in Atari TT030

Think simply the cost of sourcing the Atari boards enough to steer towards the newer build expansion cards (Storm, if still available, they sold fast).
Seen the Atari OEM on eBay, way over priced.

Re: Real World uses for TT Ram in Atari TT030

TT RAM is DMA capable - TT SCSI has an access to it. I don't think it's true. The TT has a ST RAM buffer for disk operations that are redirected then to the TT RAM. Not sure, to be verified. Guillaume. This came up during a DFB discussion. Myself not sure, but the buffer on the TT is hardware, not ...

Re: NVDI error

Thank you. Back using my ST, remember all those, but it's been a while. Think it had 1.02 AIRC (over 30 years). The failed to allocate AES blit memory error only occurs using the AB, and at the faster clocks, and TOS (patched 4.04). Haven't tested thoroughly 50/30 on the "stock" Falcon. Th...

Haven't gotten to the Sparrow GALs yet. Since possible schematic errors exist with the GAL labels, offer here the pin definitions of how the Afterburner is wired/connected to the GALs. Haven't sorted the information yet in this thread to comment. They tie into a headder on the board, and trace to so...

Had this same error for a while. Until the other night, thought it was some kind of TOS error. Guess because it occurs changing resolution. "unable to alloc" "AES blt buffer" It occurs (so far randomly) changing Falcon video resolution (say, 256 to 2 color). After it's reported,...

Re: Identifying a turbo card in a Mega STE

Had a HBS T-36 in an STfm early 90's, from Toad Computers (tear runs down my cheek). Was using Warp 9, so either NVDI hadn't been released, at least not in the US. Wish I had a photo, some reason remember it being a smaller board, using a DIL 68000, with a small amount of additional CPU cache. Know ...

Been a while, As I understand you, a cable that comes with the programmer is correctly assembled to work with the SV JTAG. This was true in my case. For CT, after measuring leads myself, simply reinserted them into a compatible socket. Then no more fumbling flashing the CT either. I pull VSS from th...

Not well versed in all the Ras Pi hardware. Is PiSCSI required to tie into the Falcons terminators as the CLAB type SCSI adapters do? Looked at the CosmosEX device. Seems like a decent solution for multipurpose of functions, but other than that (which is a lot), no overall improvement of the Falcons...

Guess need to dive into this before I'm gone :) Started to ring out the Sparrow COMBEL PGA socket, using the Falcon schematics as sort of a road map. Max bus clock at boot with expansion cards

Try not to run off on my usual blubbering. After about a year of massaging a Falcon/AB040 to boot with a faster COMBEL oscillator (46MHz), moved a CT60/63/60e over to see how the mod works there. There's a bit of speed up with display, and TC VGA is available (via BSS HRTC). Seems both boards, thoug...
