Re: Atari st series computers conversion PC

Judging from the case's colour it's an STE.

Re: 4 Player Adapter

Look at the links I posted above and you'll notice there's no need for testing: the ST and Amiga adapters are wired up different.

Re: What language for MIDI and sound?

Bit 9 sounds nasty - maybe I should try 8 bit first.

Re: What language for MIDI and sound?

I want to use it as a 9 bit DAC using resistors. Just like the Covox but with one bit more.

I'd connect a (known working) printer to it and print away. :D

Re: What language for MIDI and sound?

Thanks for the great advice and hints. I'll look into doing MIDI in GFA basic first and when I get stuff up and running, I'll look into sound generation. I think you can guess what I'm going to do? Is it difficult or time critical to program the parallel port on the ST or is it as easy as ...

Re: 4 Player Adapter

Take a look at the first link of this page: http://atari4ever.free.fr/hardware/others.html

It describes how to build such an adapter. What bugs me is that it uses pin 26 on a DB25 connector  as well as the /STROBE line which is AFAIK output only.

Re: LED type thing for Atari SF354 disk drive

It's a reed switch. It switches on when a magnet is near and off when the magnet is removed. I don't think it is used for write protection in any way. I wonder why they mounted it there in the first place. Maybe for generating index pulses. Write protection usually is achieved with mechanical switch...

What language for MIDI and sound?

Hey folks, what language do you recommend for doing MIDI stuff and using the YM2149? I can code in Pascal and Basic. C is no option for me. I haven't programmed for like 10 years but I think I can get used to it again. Last thing I wrote was a boot loader in assembler for 80286s.

Re: The Obligatory 'Introduce Yourself Thread'...

Hey folks! I'm from Germany and into Ataris for some 25 years now, starting with a trusty 8 bit XE my father bought back then. Years ago, I owned a 1040STE but sold it. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_32 Recently, I aquired a lot of STs at epay and now I have an STE again. :D Some may perhaps know me from atariag...
