Re: Having issues running games lately + a couple questions

If you have a US-style keyboard, try using the right-hand Alt key. I haven’t used the Windows version of Hatari for a while, but I think that’s the key you need to turn on and off mouse grab.

I’m not sure about the other questions.

Re: MiST in 2020

Eero,

Fair enough. I do not know when I will have time in the next month or so, but I am willing to look at the latest EmuTOS again.

Re: YPbPr adapter.

That is great news for when I can buy a MiST. I do not have the ability to create the board myself. I realize the shipping cost to the US would be more than the device itself. It would be worth it though to have an adapter that I know works with the MiST.

I think they got the manufacturer wrong on the page I linked. The pic (and my device) says Cablor.
Ok, thanks.

Based on your Amazon link, I thought this product might work since it is from the same company.

Re: MiST in 2020

eeun and 8bitguy1, Thanks so much for your comments. It sounds like I can get it to work with just VGA. My TV that I use for my XEGS doesn’t have a VGA input, but I can always buy a monitor if a VGA to HDMI converter doesn’t work. My limiting factor is space more than my budget for a VGA monitor. Bo...

Re: MiST in 2020

Sorry. I just have one more question. I thought I could purchase a VGA to component cable and it would just work. However, I saw elsewhere here where someone made a VGA to component converter box. If I use the scan doubler to output an acceptable VGA signal, can I simply buy a VGA to component cable...

Re: MiST in 2020

Thank you very much for the confirmation of component video support. That’s the last piece of information I needed.

I tried looking on Mark’s site but I didn’t see component video mentioned.

Re: MiST in 2020

Thank you. I had forgotten about that information since, at the time, I did not think my TV had component output.

I know the Atari800 core has changed from the version that is in the MiST repository. Hopefully, this has changed.

Re: MiST in 2020

Where can I find out if the four cores I am interested in support component input? I looked more closely at my Samsung TV and it does support component as well as composite input.

The four cores I plan to use are:
MiSTery
Atari800
C64
Minimig

Thanks for your help.

Re: MiST in 2020

Re: EmuTOS I agree that it is in active development. However, as someone looking to just play a few games, I found EmuTOS to be a bit slower and have some compatibility problems in the past. I am concerned that developers of old games used undocumented features or locations with their games. I admit...

Re: MiST in 2020

About PPera's HD Driver: I asked him this very question last week and he told me it works but the SatanDisk version works best (vs. the UltranSatan Version I was also inquiring about). I suggest you ask him directly... I haven't had time to try it yet but I did buy it from him, if he says it works,...

Re: MiST in 2020

Thank you all for the replies. This does give me an idea of where MiST is in 2020. I am aware that composite input is the lowest quality. However, for 8-bit gaming, it’s more than sufficient. @slingshot - I realize you do not have a hardware testing lab. I was just trying to find out how easy it wou...

Re: MiST in 2020

Thanks for the quick reply. I assumed slingshot would have to answer the hard disk driver question. If I can set all of the cores to NTSC, that sounds like the easiest approach for me. I am aware of that 15Hz wiki. I would really prefer to stay with a modern monitor and not be limited to monitors th...

MiST in 2020

I have read the Wiki and tried to read the forum here, but I have been unable to find answers to some "newbie" questions: I am only interested in the following cores: MiSTery, Atari800, C64, and Amiga (in that order) 1. Can I use any VGA (LCD or LED flatscreen) monitor in combination with the built-...

Same for me, MiST(er) posts aren't hidden anymore. What is also surprising is that they are still any, I thought all the FPGA forums are moved to the new domain? As I understand it, only MiSTer moved to its own forum. MiST is still here. However, there were many more MiSTer posts recently so we sho...

Re: Ballerburg

I am glad the floppy image worked for you. Since you use Windows, I would recommend Steem for the Windows interface.

As a Mac user, I prefer Hatari but the Windows version is very bare-bones because they are no Windows Hatari developers.

Re: Ballerburg

Eero, I only went by my past experience. After running into trouble with it, I simply stopped using it as it wasn’t worth the trouble. I’m glad to hear that compatibility with it has improved. Since I can fast forward the floppy load time, I don’t need to use a hard disk unless the program is too bi...

Re: Ballerburg

If you simply want to play Ballerberg and no other ST game, I would take 1st1's suggestion and simply download it from the Microsoft Store. However, I had no problems running the original ST version from Hatari. However, I created an ST image (.st) using MSA converter from the original zip file. I i...

Re: ATARI keys on MAC keyboard

If you use scan code keyboard mapping, it appears that the only missing keys are Atari-specific like Help and Undo. I think those keys are remapped to function keys that aren’t on a standard Mac keyboard (F13, F14).

The other keys should all work.

Re: ATARI keys on MAC keyboard

I am using Hatari 2.2.1. I have a simple keymap file that I have attached. It only remaps the Help and Undo keys to F11 and F12 respectively. The other keys use the symbolic keyboard mapping. I have a few keys that don't work (-, _, {, [, }, ]), but the arrow keys work correctly. I haven't spent the...

Re: Hatari on OSX PPC?

If you compiled 1.8 or 1.9, it might work with a simple compile if you have a copy of SDL 1.x for PPC. At this point, there may be code changes that are not compatible with PPC.

If you do get a later version compiled for PPC, there may still be other Mac PPC who would be interested in it.

Re: Hatari on OSX PPC?

It appears that 1.7 is the last version with a PPC binary. There were no longer Mac users with an Xcode old enough to build for PPC. In addition, the default SDL supported is 2.x which only supports Intel Macs. As the emulation has improved, the system requirements have increased. Therefore, you mig...

I did not realize Windows supported symbolic links. That would definitely something to try.
