Re: Req : "Audio Sculpture" (STX,...) even not running...

FYI: For old protection on the Atari ST the disk was written by an industrial duplicator (for speed), but the actual protection was often written later with an Atari ST (because industrial duplicators often had problems copying it…).

Re: Turbo Ass Debugger Problem

TurboAss allocates all memory minus 200000 bytes. It then loads BUBABOO.PRG. The reason for this is to load the BUBABOO as high as possible into memory to avoid conflicts with TurboAss. Might be that this is triggering it. And yes, the advice to adjust the memory in the TurboAss might help. I never ...

Re: IDA Hex-Rays loader plugin

Yes, IDA is incredible expensive (probably because of a small market). I've only own it, because of a different project I am into right now. So, my script is really for the special/weird people out there… BTW: Their service is excellent. I reported an issue, got a reply within minutes and within a d...

IDA Hex-Rays loader plugin

Hi,

I know this is bit special, but maybe somebody else can use it. I've done a quick IDA Hex-Rays disassembler loader, which support Atari TOS applications and TOS images and does all the necessary magic to disassemble it more efficiently.

Re: Atari and Music.

C-Lab/emagic did have a fun rivalry with Steinberg though - he told me some fun stories back in the day! As far as I can recall, Charlie Steinberg showed him the fundamentals of sequencer programming, and Gerhard went off and wrote his C64 sequencer Gerhard and Chris had a C-64 software and offered...

Re: There are tons of BEST of threads, how about the WORST ST games?

I have to nominate Street Gang... I remember working on it. It has my copy protection, but I also helped with QA. I've actually played through all levels: the "trick" is to be passive and not e.g. punch people in wheelchairs – yep, that was actually a thing. The performance of the game was also bad ...

Re: 4P Gauntlet wiki Entry: wrong!?

I don't remember the Joystick code. However, it did have blitter support and STE. My guess with the MIDI code is that you have to launch the MIDI app on a second computer linked via MIDI to the Atari (MIDI Out => MIDI In). The 4-player joystick adapter on the parallel port might also be supported, b...

Re: Why doesn't the likes of Steinberg just let us have abandonware cubase??

C-Lab applications went into Emagic, which was bought by Apple in 2002. So, it is possible that the copyright is now with Apple. I did the original "SL" part of Notator SL and work on Logic before it even became 1.0. But I also don't know where the old sources even could be. Every now and then we st...

Re: Giana Sisters STE - New Game!

Well it actually scroll in 128 pixel steps so maybe it can be called a scroller  I don't understand why it was done that way. Even a 16 pixel scroller would have been much better. The answer is actually quite simple: time to market. As a developer you typically didn't have time to do everythi...

Re: 4P Gauntlet wiki Entry: wrong!?

Sorry to necro-post, but when selecting your character, pressing left or right on the keyboard actually brings up "MIDI JOY0" and "MIDI JOY1". I'm not sure what it refers to, but it leads me to believe there was some special adapter for Gauntlet that could be made to allow a full four-player game. ...

Re: 4P Gauntlet wiki Entry: wrong!?

I'm not sure if there was ever a hack or crack or any type of 'ack' for the game, but the original version is 2P only! There actually was a hack - I did it... I added 4 player support, fixed some issues with the rendering (there was a redraw issues of the last row), added support for the blitter (w...

Re: All you always wanted to know about the WD1772

While we are talking about the $F7 character: It is interesting to note that the byte placed after a $F7 character is written unchanged by the write track command. For example $F7 $F7 is not interpreted as a double checksum each with 2 bytes, but as a 2 bytes checksum followed with $F7. If you use ...
