DirectX Programming
DD/D3D I'm trying to create some DX graphics routines running in VB6. I have no experience with DX programming so I am struggling. Although I can already do what I want with pixel level formulae, my routines are like 100 slower than I need them because VB is notoriously slow at drawing graphics. So ...

Over the past few weeks I've been searching the net for people's favourite ST games, and have been monitoring the forums for enthusiasm/re...

calculate B = number of permutations of 6 balls (=6*5*4*3*2*1) calculate A = number of permutations of the six in which any three balls appear in sequence. Required Probability = A/B * Probability of winning the lotto. Hope that gets you started. :) suppose the drawn balls are 1,2,3,4,5,6 in that or...

Who here's excited about starcraft 2 ? :)
We've been waiting for this for years, but I am afraid that it's going to be a bit of a disappointment, apart from the vector graphics and half a dozen new units. It is due to be released in January 2008. THE FEATURES ------------ So what features will be a HIT or a MISS? For the Protoss, I think th...

of course, to round things to the nearest %, instead of rounding down (eg 199/100 = 1%) ... you add one half to the figure before you int it, or +50 before you divide by 100. In basic one uses the cint() operator. int pcamount=58; int value=1192; int amountofvalue=(value * pcamount +50)/100 Just a s...

The reason I asked is because in 1995 I came up with the idea of using the mains for computer networking and described it to my school physics teacher about using a small series capacitor to filter a data signal from the power lines. He said that it wouldn't work due to both signal degradation and t...

Surely a tether that long would have a hell of a lot of weight. Any satellite it's connected to would have to have it's burners on constanly upwards and occasionaly adjust sideways to keep it's orbit position. Because of the weight of the cable, even though the satelite is weightless in space, the ...

It can simulate uniform cable...

I'm remaking my tether program. The problem you see is that it isn't just the satellite thats in orbit - every particle in the tether itself is tempted by gravity into it's own orbit. Things closer to the ground must normally move faster if they are to stay in a stable orbit, but the shorter distanc...

Re: Thermal paste on PC CPU heatsink
Has anyone else had this problem ? I am tired of using paste and want to use pads, but I cant get my pc to boot up with pads :( There may be several problems. Lateral thinking is the order of the day here I think... Hmmm... The pads mean that the cpu is held tighter to the cpu socket. Maybe it's a ...
