Re: MST2 ADSpeed 11 bombs on boot

The AdSpeed, like many accelerator boards, uses a cache. You can turn it off and on from the included software (PRG and ACC). I think you can also use jumpers on the board itself to control its power-on state. You can also make a database that the AdSpeed will use to turn itself on/off for individua...

Re: MST2 ADSpeed 11 bombs on boot

Can't remember if the sound chip is socketed or not. If it is, you might want to
swap it out from the other machine - just to see what happens.

Because your diagnostics cart isn't showing anything, you'll probably be
reduced to trial and error testing, unfortunately.

Re: CosmosEX 3.0

Okay, thanks. The one I have now is from the last official release Jookie did, as far
as I can remember. I've never tried to update it.

Is that bad update posted somewhere so anyone trying to update can avoid it?

Thanks again.

Re: Blitter for STfm worth it/needed?

The blitter to me is one of those things that you don't miss until you have a machine with it. When you go back to a machine without out, you miss it. Same way with accelerators - I don't have an ST that's running at less than 16 mhz. When I go to a stock ST @ 8mhz, it seems strange...and sluggish. :)

Re: MST2 ADSpeed 11 bombs on boot

Do you have a spare 68000 chip? If so, swap it out for the Adspeed, just to rule
that out.

Did it just start doing the 11 bombs, or is this a machine that you acquired
recently? (in other words, have you seen it boot up normally?)

Re: CosmosEX 3.0

Pretty sure the Cosmosex itself has an RTC in it, doesn't it? I use mine in my Falcon, which has a NVRAM battery, so I haven't ran into this. Shame you haven't used it, it's a really cool device! Being able to upload disk images to it through it's embedded web interface is pretty sweet. It kind of ...

I think I would wait until you examine it. It's a lot like working on a modern car with all it's sensors. You can throw parts at it like mad but it's better to figure out what's wrong first. :) Sorry about answering in two places - but I was here last the first time around, so I answered here. That ...

Re: STacy Help

Okay, so I'm assuming that since you were waiting on your upgrades to arrive, you hadn't taken it apart yet? The STacy can be a little difficult to take apart if you've never done it before. I'd highly recommend following a guide like: https://gtello.pagesperso-orange.fr/stacy_e.htm Scroll down a bi...

Hey gang - meant to get things squared away for this month/next month but wound up (for lack of time) going on vacation first. Hotel's 'net service is okay, but for some reason telnet sucks. Timed out after 30 seconds on my first try, literally would enter text and things would set there a while bef...

There are some emulated BBS's out there, but there are still actual BBS's that are running real Atari hardware and software. Check my sig for one. :) PS Many of them still have working door games although not many play them these days... PSS Follow this link for an up-to-date listing: http://sfhqbbs...

Re: CosmosEX 3.0

Hi DarkLord, my mistake I checked some docs around and you are correct. How does it even work when most STs don't have an RTC and files are all dated in 1980? Could it be all my files were dated 1-Jan-1980 and because it couldn't sort by date it did by Alphabetical? i'll dig and try stuff... When c...

Re: Storm ST: 8 MB Alt-RAM + RTC + more

Thanks for the quick reply. The board looks very compact, and well designed. Ugh, space in a STacy is horrible, at best. I had to move the internal P/S board to the (not in use) battery compartment to have enough room for the Pak board. The CPU is already socketed, as you surmised. I'...

Re: CosmosEX 3.0

Very good video, nice production. I've got a unit that I've never done anything with. I always intended to install it in my STacy but after reading some of the posts where people had several problems when updating, I gave it a pass. One small detail though, and someone correct me if I'm wrong but un...

Re: Storm ST: 8 MB Alt-RAM + RTC + more

Wow, looks great.

So if you used it with a Pak board, you wouldn't need anything else, TOS wise,
since TOS v3.06 is there already.

Thanks! (and thanks for supporting the Atari community) :)

PS How hard is this to install? Much soldering? Will it fit in a STacy?

DarkForce BBS changes...

So per user requests, I've added another alias for telnetting into the DarkForce! BBS. There are now 2 routes: darkforce-bbs.dyndns.org (the original) and darkforcebbs.dyndns.org The second is for comms software that balks at anything non standard (such as the dash) that is entered. Please test and ...
