Re: Last version of Logic Audio Falcon?
Additional info: SL in name is SoftLink - basic multitasking "OS" (like MROS from Steinberg CuBase?) that enable multiple application to run at same time. (I just read this info few days ago :) ) Yes, quite interesting really, many people including myself wax lyrical about the usefulness of MROS in...

Re: Last version of Logic Audio Falcon?
Interesting question, never really thought about it. What I believe is that there were cracked versions of Notator SL (SoftLink). Planetemu suggests this, for example cracked SL imaged version from MCA: https://www.planetemu.net/rom/atari-st-applications-st/notator-v3-0-1991-adam-lengeling-cr-mca-a ...

Re: Last version of Logic Audio Falcon?
Yeah, for the "ST" series, Logic 2.5 was the last version (maybe Logic 2.5.3, although I have never seen it or checked), but for the Falcon, Logic Audio Falcon 2.0 was the last version, possibly 2.0.1, but I believe the files attached above are all Logic, not Logic Audio, haven't checked. EDIT: None...

Go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/atarist/ James Wilkinson, the creator of the group may be able to help you, he owns a Lynex or two!? I once briefly wrote this on the Atari Forum WIKI about the Lynex, and at the time I could not find any reference of the connection type. However all of this stu...

Re: Musicians of the Atari ST (1989)
Very interesting watch from my perspective, another video showing Bob Moore who I find interesting, and information on Colors to boot, considered a Hip Hip classic movie, something I was very much into as a kid, and has shaped my interest in music to this day. Thanks for this, a good watch!

Re: MPC as a controller for Atari STe midi music
So short answer is yes you can. I have an MPC2500, and I have that connected to my Atari, however I have a few MIDI expanders for the Atari, so they give me extra MIDI outs. If I wish I can sequence other MIDI equipment attached to my Atari using the MPC, or I can use Cubase and other synths I have ...

Re: Thing desktop (latest version and free key?)
As I understand, the last official version of Thing was v1.27, however there was v1.29, v1.30 and a v1.50. I believe, and someone correct me if I am wrong, it can be broken down like this: v1.27 last official "stable" version V1.29 was a beta v1.30 was a beta As such, the aforementioned were to be m...

Re: Redirect MIDI to serial?
There is Director from C-Lab, which aims to re-direct the set Atari MIDI out to the outs on the C-Lab Export (or potentially other device via the serial port) or to the MIDI outs on a C-Lab Unitor: http://www.notator.org/html/software.html#director. You may be able to get something out of this?

Re: That "ST" sound
No problem, Charles also mentions EPSS, this is useful, which allows you to use samples with Cubase. It's not pure YM chip synthesis, but could also be useful to you.

Re: That "ST" sound
Hi, as darklight says, Cubase on the Atari pre-dates what we now refer to as DAWs, so no VSTs. Therefore no MIDI sequencer for the Atari can sequence the YM2149F internal to the ST. The only way the YM2149F can be sequenced is by a chip tracker such as those here: https://dhs.nu/files.php?t=chipedit...

Re: SPDIF - Listen from it?
I missed a lot of these posts, but as others have said it can be a bit hit and miss with software / games, and also to what you are outputting to, speakers or another digital piece of equipment. The coaxial or optical connections merely serve to be versatile to whatever equipment you are connecting....

Re: How do I know if NVDI 2.51A is working?
As Stormy says, it is essentially a screen accelerator, or perhaps better described as a software accelerator, its big purpose is faster screen redraws, so it speeds up the Atari when using software. GemBench will explicitly show you this, running it with and without NVDI. You will feel the differen...

Re: SPDIF - Listen from it?
Here we go, both MATRIX and FDI_INIT. FDI usually comes with Cubase Audio... MATRIX was generally independent, but if I recall did come bundled with certain software. Either should be placed in the AUTO folder of your boot drive to work.

Re: Falcon 030 stopped for 17 years. does not recognize floppy or HD
Welcome! First thing is first, I would try a simple re-seat: Re-seating Try re-seating the Floppy drive and HD by simply dis-connecting the cables and re-connecting, just to make sure they are properly seated. They are mechanical of course, so they might have ceased up, so cleaning them with some is...

Actually that would be interesting regarding Works comparison!
I managed to install Papyrus X OK on my Falcon HD, transferred it across from my Mac onto my Falcon and similarly unzipped if I recall.

It sounds like you have extracted the files correctly as you say, from the .ST image? JAYMSA is good for this, selecting all the files from within the image and selecting extract to your designated folder structure. I don't know what that .ST image contains, but ordinarily Atari Works pre install wo...
