Project OpenBoardView

Postby Gaiyan » Sun Dec 16, 2018 7:09 pm

Ho ho ho,

No, Christmas is not early but I thought I'd reveal a(nother) project that I have started. Many of you are familiar with Louis Rossmann and if you're not, you should head to YouTube. Anyway, he's been raving about the OpenBoardView software and I decided to see if that was something I could utilize for Atari boards.

Turns out there is a python plugin for KiCad, my EDA of choice, that creates a compatible BRD file from the .kicad_pcb file. That means that you'd have to pretty much re-create the whole board from scratch. Routing is not necessary. I thought I'd do the PAK68/3 as a proof of concept. It's still a WIP but once it's ready, I'll release it here with a write-up on how to do it. Here are some pics.

I've uploaded the project to GitHub. https://github.com/AtarianComputing/Atari-OBV. Please excuse the messy schematics. My main goal was to come up with a nice BRD file. Have fun with this.

My daughter will be born any day now. Here is a sneak preview of her still in my wife from less than two weeks ago.

Congratulations for the new life that comes to the world, there is nothing comparable to that miracle.
Regarding the scheme: we need some brave people to build the PAK.
Thanks for your contribution.

Thank you. I'm almost done with my PAK68/3 assembly.

Here is sheet one of the TT schematics remastered for the OBV project.

First two sheets reproduced in schematics and laid out on PCB. Here is a preview.
