Black Sect is finally available in English

Postby Klapauzius » Sat Oct 27, 2007 2:18 pm

Hi all!

It took much longer then expected but I finally managed to finish the English translation of Black Sect from Lankhor. :-)

Hope you like it!

Cheers

The tears are welling in my eyes again, I need twenty big buckets to catch them in, twenty pretty girls to carry them down, twenty deep holes to bury them in.

Ok, problems are solved now. :-)

I have attached the disk images to this post.

Please note that this is the first English version of this game on any platform.

Please read the (lengthy) scrolltext for more detailed information on this game/hack/translation. Suffice to say here that the game has also been spiced up to run from hard disk and on more recent Atari machines. An English walkthrough solution can be found on disk 1.

Quick and big thanks go to Zorro 2 (for the intro), Fredo_L (for his generous supply), the Beast (for the original French disks), D-Bug (for ULS) and all others for their help and patience.

Enjoy! :-)

Cool, but will it still work on a not-so-new Atari? A 1040ST, for example?

I've always wanted to play this game to its full extent. Thanks Klaz.

Yep, it will even work on a 512kB STFM and up to a Falcon030. That's the range it has been tested on. :-)

I've been playing it this weekend on the falcon - not a bad game, but not easy at all... makes me want to just play through that solution on the 1st disk :)

Has anyone found the really cheesy joke messages that appear - re: Sharon Stone & Jean Claude Van Damme?

The .ST file is an image of the disk. If you want the files version to play off the h/drive, then download the other file, unzip to your h/drive and launch from there?

The version here is the only English version available.
There are no separate disk image/file/hard disk versions, it's an all-in-one version ;-)

If you want to play it on a real machine and not on an emulator - which I think is what you want - you will have to either convert the ST images to MSA format (use MSA Converter for that), or use ppera's FloImg tool to write the ST images to floppy on your PC (provided you got a floppy drive in it).

FloImg:
http://www.ppest.org/atari/floimgd.php
MSA Converter:
http://msaconverter.free.fr/

.... or:
just wait a few hours til I'm home from work again, and I'll post MSA images of the game here. :-)
