Well, the hope is that the language used in the inital posts by people can be translated by those who've got the spare time.

There are some damn good experts in every language in Europe who programmed, upgraded and did other stuff with their ST's.

All we need are volunteers with the time.

what i recon is to use a web engine or a good package
to translate

and pass a note to translate language users

to tidy it up and post

i think 50% on the way to full is better than an empty tank full of fumes

so better a stone to cross over than no stone and wet feet

What I suggest is to first use a web engine or good translation package to translate to a given language, then leave a note asking if a kind user (like me here) would complete the translation to the required language, correcting spelling and grammar.
I think a half-full tank is better than an empty one.
It is better to cross the stream with a single stepping stone than without, as you would get wet feet, which is bad.

I was tested for this when I was young but the Canadian expert who flew over concluded that I was just thick

Might I suggest that rather than have eternal links to web pages, that a local copy be included too? Especially with things like the hardware hacks, they tend to disappear after a while ....

A couple of ideas:

Firstly, there's a diskmag section, so how about one that pays homage to real magazines like 'Atari ST User', 'ST Format', 'Zero', etc. Possibly with scans or transcriptions of reviews (or even entire mags, but I guess that would require off-site linkage).

Secondly - How about an Atari links section? There's already one for other wikis, but what about other pertinent sites like Little Green Desktop, the official Atari Forums, the STEEM Homepage, etc. ?

Go add them Grunaki .. Maybe in a seperate mini-section under the "Other Wiki's" .. ?

I've edited the current "Other Wikis" to "Other Wiki's & Links" for now. I need a whole new section to be created to make it neat by adding a new row under-neath the main page if anyone can come up with another main section that is missing?

Then we can split it back to "Other Wiki's" and "Useful Links" as two separate sections.

Well, I've just moved Wiki's & Links into two separate sections .. which means there's a blank space where the previous Wiki's & Link's section was. Put Magazines in there?

Although it would be nice to have a lot of manuals up there .. I don't know where we'd stand if we put up the complete .PDF file for it (assuming someone wants to scan in the whole manual).

Any suggestions? Someone have the web/server space to handle PDF's of the bigger manuals like Devpac?

That would be down to Brume or Silver Surfer .. we're not trying to be like replacementdocs.com and host all the manuals for everything (at the moment, anyway!)

Hi

Would it be possible to upgrade mediawiki... to at least 1.7.

We would be able to do some great stuff then... see wikipedia.
Also some extension would be great, like parser extensions. They are easy to install and can be hooked up by one line in localsettings.php.

However, I am not sure whether it needs PHP 5 for some stuff.

Anyway it would certainly be worth looking at it.

long time no see!

The things you mention have been on my mind for a while but I am a bit careful as the last time I updated the wiki software some weirdness happend.

I hope to have some time soon to give it a go, can't say exactly when this will happend though as I want to test local first a couple of times and see how that goes.

I have Bruno's ST Games list in PDF and HTML format, just wondered if it would be handy in the wiki menu listings section as a "search by game" list, it doesnt contain all the crews but it covers all the larger ones.....
I have attached the PDF version to my "where to download ST games" topic in the forum.
I am asking here also as I have no idea how to make one of those nice grids that have been used for all the other listings....
