HypView/hcp 1.0.3 released

Postby ThorstenOtto » Sat Jul 27, 2019 1:40 pm

Hi,

i've just updated my version HypView/hcp to 1.0.3, fixing a few smaller bugs.

In case you didn't see this already: this is a derivate of the HypView application from the FreeMint release, with some notable changes:

  • on TOS, it should also work with SingleTOS (the original version needs support of more modern AES to display the coloricons and for the popup menus). But keep in mind that this application is quite a bit larger than for example ST-Guide.
  • There are viewers available also for linux and Windows.
  • It has a compiler! You can create binary hypertext files on any system.
  • It has no limit on the number of nodes (ST-Guide's version crashes when trying to compile tos.hyp)
  • When recompiling, it should give much better results than the version from ST-Guide (ie. it also recompiles all graphic commands)
  • other tools like refcheck etc. are also contained.

For macOS, only commandline tools are currently provided. A viewer is in work, but not yet finished. Any help in this area would be highly appreciated.

Have Fun
Thorsten

Thanks for the update!

This is a fantastic, multi-platform hypertext viewer and processing package. It is very fast with compiling and decompiling. I use it under linux and it saves a lot of time.

Yeap, thanks for the update, hcp is my favourite hyp viewer as its the only viewer ( at least I haven't found any other ) which works in linux.

Thanks! Do you have the sources somewhere in git so that one can look at the changes more in detail?

Wow, I hadn't realized how much differences you had to the original version, you have there even a WIP PDF mode...

Yes but i'm a bit stuck with PDF. There seems to be no reliable way to generate popup windows, for example. There are some examples on the web, but none of them work with current applications, only with AcrobatReader it seems. Beside that, it's a %&%&$% brain-damaged format.

I'm currently more interested in getting a macOS viewer working, but had some problems there, too.
