EmuTOS 0.9.11

Postby anodyne » Thu Jun 06, 2019 8:02 pm

The EmuTOS developers are please to announce the release of EmuTOS 0.9.11. In case you didn't know, EmuTOS is a GEMDOS-compatible operating system for Atari computers and is a free and open source replacement for common TOS images for Atari emulators.

The main new features of EmuTOS 0.9.11 are:
- BIOS: console output performance is improved
- EmuCON: the command prompt now includes the current path
- EmuDesk: there is a new default icon set
- LineA: a crash when using NVDI 5.03 in 256-colour mode has been fixed

You can easily test EmuTOS on your real Atari hardware. Get emutos-prg*.zip from the link below, extract the PRG matching your favorite language, put it on a floppy (or hard disk partition), run it on your Atari, and you're done!

You can download your preferred binary archive here:

Thanks! Keep up the great work! I'm still hoping for it to someday fully support the Falcon030 hardware.

Me too :-). There's a lot of work to be done first, including CICON and Truecolor support, but we'll get there eventually. Truecolor is probably the biggest job, since it affects almost every VDI function, so don't expect it soon ...

What if one would use fVDI for drawing, wouldn't EmuTOS then need "only" to support 16-bit resolution setting in XBios?

All DSP XBios functions (there are a *lot* of them) and related sound matrix changes would also be a large amount of work.

Very nice!

I wonder how EmuTOS does handle the system clock on a Falcon with faulty Dallas chip?
Original TOS trash the time and date when returning from an application. What dos EmuTOS do?
FreeMint keeps date and time properly in this case.

You should give a try, if you can
Or ask Hatari developers to implement emulation of such faulty Dallas chip.
