I am referring to SMS Core (maybe other are broken, but haven't tried yet).

Left, Up and Down is not working anymore. (Dpad, XBOX 360 controller). Right direction works.
OSD reset or deleting configs did not help.

So i tried the following:

MiSTer_20190408 -> OK
MiSTer_20190421 -> Not working
MiSTer_20190422 -> Not working

After configuring in 20190408 it's also working in 20190422! But reconfiguring in 20190422 will break it again, so you have to go back to 20190408.

I don't have wired X360 controller (i have wireless which is obviously cannot be used). And i cannot reproduce your issue. I use 8bitdo M30/SF30Pro controllers and DualShock4. All of them mapped successfully.

Give me log (USB console) of pressing DPAD directions in Menu core.

I don't have that cable. I can buy one if you want.
I can login via network by SSH. Can I get console log from there?

Nope. only through USB direct connection.

PhantombrainM wrote:I made a Video :

still have no clue what's the problem. Do you have other gamepads to compare?
May be it's X360 gamepad specific.

in 0422 release you can press Menu(OSD) button to clear all buttons definition while defining the buttons. Press it and then assign the buttons. Does it fix the problem?

- OSD Clear does not help either.

- I've got an Competition Pro. All directions are working when configuring! So its just the X360 Controller. But there is a user on FB who has the same problem with another Atari controller (Also Left Up Down not working).

- I'm getting an cable tomorrow from a co-worker

- I've attached the two map configs 20190408 which is working (also on 20190422) and a new configured 20190422 which is not working anymore. Maybe you can use this files for debugging? They have different MD5 hashes.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I see the non-working file has other key codes. Still have no idea why they are different.
I remember someone told me some time ago that X360/XBOne gamepads send a lot of events making MiSTer very busy when these gamepads are used. Similar to DS3/DS4. But in recent builds i've managed to remove unwanted messages from DS3/DS4, so they are good now.
Probably something similar required for X360/XBone.

P.S.: Non-working map has codes with 0xC0 either added or OR'ed. It may be some bug but i can't find it.

I have the same problem here with XBOX 360 controller. I have only tested with SNES, but on newest build, after mapping, only the 'right' direction works on dpad, not left, up or down.

"Me too" won't work. I need some info like USB console debug info.

Found on eBay X360 wireless gamepad with receiver - very cheap. Ordered.
If i won't be able to fix this issue, then i hope i will get it in 2 weeks and will try myself.

I'm having the same issues using an original Super Famicom Controller via an SFC<->USB adapter.
Working on 20190408, not working on 20190421/22.

IIRC X360 wireless shouldn’t work with MiSTer, the dongle isn’t like an 8bitdo one which pairs and exposes itself as a wired controller. On Windows the Xbox receiver is a specific device which can connect up to 4 controllers.
But, as always, I might be wrong.

You are wrong. Just plug the PC USB receiver into the Mister, pair a Controller and there you go. The best thing is, you can use up to 4 Controllers with just this one receiver. And the controller uses standard AA (rechargable) batteries. Not soldered propertary li-ion / polymere stuff like in the 8bitdo stuff. You will like it!

according to VID:PID your controller is not X360 gamepad. So, it's not what i've originally wanted to debug.

Your controller generates 2 key codes from single key press. This is not how normal controller should work. While it may work, it still confuses the MiSTer. Check if this controller has different modes, so may be some mode generates only single code from key press.

My controller is the Mayflash Wii Classic Adapter, this adapter don't have a diferent mode. With Mister_20190408 version it work well.
I can send you the same information with X360 gamepad.

Oh great, so after pairing it exposes the controller as an usb controller just plugged. Very good. I thought it was something different since under Windows you always see the receiver as a special connected device and then you see the controllers only when paired (and maybe I tested it with no success on MiSTer back then, when I tested many controllers and adapters, but I’m not sure, time has passed, I don’t remember). BTW I know it uses AA, I have two of them, but I never use them because I don’t like the controller: horrible dpad and I’m one of the few people who prefers Sony symmetrical analog stick layout.

Just bought XBOne S controller which has BT. And it seems it has pairing problem. Microsoft wouldn't be a Microsoft if it wouldn't cripple the standard.

Generally speaking XBOne gamepad is inferior to Dualshock. DPAD is tiny and much worse in tactile feeling.

I tested a couple wireless 360 controllers in the past.
Everything worked except the right stick was not recognized.
That was several mister and Linux versions back.
I will try it again after work in a few hours and see if I get the same results.

You can do a firmware update on windows 10 with usb cable. After that it connects to everything, even a macbook.

Nope. only through USB direct connection.

I don't want to say something stupid, but I think that if someone connects through SSH and then performs

Code: Select all

killall MiSTer
/media/fat/MiSTer

then he/she should get debug messages as long as he/she remain connected through SSH.
Obviously as soon the SSH connection is closed, MiSTer process will be killed and the DE10-Nano must be restarted.

Regards.

PhantombrainM wrote:You can do a firmware update on windows 10 with usb cable. After that it connects to everything, even a macbook.

problem is not in firmware. It's already latest in my controller.

you need to issue command:
echo 1 > /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_ertm

or simply unzip and replace the file:
S35bluetooth.zip

to /etc/init.d/S35bluetooth (chmod 755)

i will include it in the next linux release.

XBOne S gamepad works fine over BT with this fix.
