Resurrecting this thread again:
The tune is definitely "Trouble Vision" by Romeo Knight!
There are 2 versions, one by Romeo Knight and one by Romeo Knight & Virgill.
It's the first one by Romeo Knight that's used in PP89:
http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?detai ... &view=6319The distortion and 3 channel effect could be using a 3 channel player like the old, buggy, low frequency Noisetracker 1.2 player or they've switched off a channel to save CPU time. It's not Quartet.
I have unpacked the demo and extracted the mod from the PRG and it is 92938 bytes long.
Romeo Knights version is 92518 bytes long.
It is identical until a bit of padding at the end of the file.
Loading the menu version into DeliPlayer 2 says "Unrecognized format" but JAM player plays it identically.
I have disassembled the menu and changed the music player to use the Whizzcat MOD player and it sounds a lot better. It also detects if the demo is running on an STE and uses the Whizzcat STE play routine. PM me if you'd like the demo and source code.
Dunno but my favourite Sparky tune is the one from menu 45 (F-19 Stealth Fighter).
That was a Quartet tune and it's called "Sledge - for PP Sledgehammer" and it's in the SNDH archive under Sparky.
