so you have the capability to make more Magnum TT boards if necessary ?

It certainly seems like Mark can make more STe versions, as he has the schematics and CPLD code.

yes

if demand outstrips supply

i will together with piku source the right newbus connector
i will assume he will deal with state side...! canada etc..

its the board connector is the issue i feel here

pcb ... china cheep
mach 210 easy on ebay maybe.. i use 7ns types
connector very hard to find in quantity

magnum TT board rocking horse manure ....!! till now!

can always use pin strips ..... to take the place of the custom connector

all rights and a share should go to the designer and maker ... we

i am sure i speek for atari forum here and the community

my guy in china makes rolled solder or silver gold plated thru plated double sided boards

for $11 per 50 cm squared

nice guy

in china it depands who you know and trust

it takes a few boards runs to find the right guy

i agree some maybe low quality but this is all down to
how you order the boards

i just phone and ask in mandrin

simple...

as i say boards arent an issue mach 210 chips are expensive but can be found

its the conector new bus that has problem attached now ... much like 2mm type carts sockets ..

new old stock's only avalible hard to find

Well, what would be really nice, is if we have the source code then you don't necessarily need the MACH 210 chips. You should be able to replace with a newer chip and recompile the code. Not sure if it's (V)HDL, Verilog or earlier code, but it should be recompilable.

Then replace the two 72pin SIMMs with an SDRAM module to take 512MB or larger :-)

I have the source. It's some language that MachXL compiles. For the STe version anyway.

The IDE interface in one of my STE machines has a MACH 210 chip and I was told by the person who sold the STE to me, it was likely a The Upgrade Shop IDEal IDE interface; is this true do you think or is it another IDE interface?

It should be possible to translate MachXL code to Verilog or VHDL.

You know this page:
http://www.uweschneider.de/Download.php?lang=en
You can find MACH files. Unfortunately there is no file for the Atari TT.

although i am a poor writer and have dyslexia
i can speek quite a bit of about 8 languages
iv'e been all over europe and some of the eastern block

but i studied chinese at uni for a couple of years
and can 'get by' im not brillient
so its a kind of half in half conversation

but i get accross and atleast i try

despite what people think chinese is actualy quite easy to learn
5 intinitive tones and a 6th emphisis tone
its just a song .. one sound can mean 5 or 6 different things
once you learn them in a random way you never forget

a good example is ma

ma ma/ ma^ ma\ ma- = nurse horse hemp seed or to swear... like ya ma- = your mother... and open ended insult

I have the PCB.. I will take pics/scan, etc I basically just need to figure out what components go in the rest of hte places. The schematics will say "resistor network" but not the resistance so I'm left to guess. I don't think there is much to figure out but that's the difference between making one and not. I also need the proper simm slot, etc. Right now I have 2 completed PCB's and 10 of the CPLD's. That's where I'm at.

I can see the resistor pack values. RP1 & RP2 are 33Ohm, and RP6 and RP7 are 2.2K.

Which ones are you missing ?

Oh, and if you have completed boards, then just get a multimeter out and measure the others :-)

I don't have any completed boards. I found someone with a board but I forget who it was. They didn't want to help me.

The other problem is on the STe version, it piggybacks to a PLCC (mmu?) so you need to solder some kind of pins kind of like the marpet xtra ram deluxes did. I have no idea how to go about this.

Must admit, I've never had to do a PLCC adapter before. But I'd lay a PLCC socket down on the board and then overlay pins in place of the PLCC pins, then remove the PLCC socket afterwards. Should work.

start a magnum mega and st/e version topic
in another place {the st/e mega hardware section}

and we will move over all posts about the mega st/s hardware magnum's

and take it from there..

cross link the two topics within the main post made

maybe piku you could make a post and we can make it a sticky

the sticky in the st section i am sure will be trimmed a bit
to move some to guides
and the guides rationalised fully
in the next few weeks or a month...
its in the line of things to do

When you say STE, do you mean the MEGA STE or the earlier 1040STE? Just asking because I do not have a MEGA STE.

you can use a plug in a plcc adapter

i bought this board on ebay for http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT

i will use it + some mods for my falcon to build a flash tos

needs a bit of solders

but you can buy the same type plcc in many sizes from a company in the u/s for about E10 £9 or so per plug in
solder too unit ...

for mega ste magnum i would expect to pay a little more

i also think another batch of magnum TT will be hard to find sockets
i had a quick search

you may find adding a second plcc socket on the pcb will help those with addins like second mpu type etc like X86 types

so a redesign is easy

i volenteer
i know full ALL pcb tools and how to work it

if this is an option kool

ps

wont be long now the ic's arrive for the TT boards this week

so ill place a paypal after i post
will run for 10 days
and rerun for 7 days any left too sell

there is 16 up for grabs ... in total as a few people wish one kept back till after new year
we allocated 5 for this purpose if you need this pm me... {like if you have kids etc christmas etc}
but really want one...! 20 avalible 1 for me 1 taken after and 4 left then 14 to sell in total

.... will be this weekend
