Any chance this will work with a Peavey DPM 4 synth? It uses a DD floppy drive in ST or DOS format.
I might want a couple of them if so :)

Thanks,

@Rocket-Doggy-boy

I got mine about a month ago.... and IIRC you ordered your later than mine.
So should be anytime now....

BTW, my theory about using this device was correct.
I can easily have my .ST image file (well converted to .HFE images) in neat folders.
But finding the correct image takes time as the selector needs to scroll and it's not as fast as I would like it to be.

Sorry that was a bit naughty of me; I am not feeling the ST-retro-computing love at the moment. I am having other technical hardware ST-retro-computing problems at the moment. Problem one I may reveal later. Problem two is that I can't GhostLink to work with my Win98 VM after great success getting my Jordana to talk to it. But I have got myself into such a tiz over problem one I am not sure my problem with GL is me; I haven't used GL since I moved the Dell into the living room. All good clean fun.

Good news about the ST images. I have got lots and lots of games to go at. I have the modulator for lo-res colour on my TFT, JeST, and speakers, all ready to go!!!

Are you pulling the images apart with JayMSA and then using the imaging tool for the floppy emulator? Or does the tool do the conversion in one hit?

sorry not sure what you are going on about in the 1st para....

On the image conversion... I just dl such off the net and they are already in .ST images and use that batch conversion.
On the peecee conversion is a blink of an eye and Mega loads of images are done.

I will probably not image my old games floppy (not alot, just 2 shoe boxes full only) as they will probably be moldy and not work.

WooHoooo
:megaphone: Greeeat work Jeff.
v1.1.2.3 Is working :D

Changing HFE files (changing floppies) now is detected for both Mint and TOS on my Falc as media change.
Open drive A:, close drive A window, change HFE files, open drive A:, the new floppy directory is read in.
No more funny workaround like open drive B: to force a directory read.

Yes this should works.
Anyway i don't know what kind of floppy connection it uses so a check is needed.

Count me in then...ordered a bit ago.
This thing with some slight mods to draw the buttons and screen to a wired panel will be a synth patcher's dream :) Over 200 rotting floppy disks...all gone with this baby...and no more slow sysex dumps over midi that take 3 tries to take :)

I'm pretty sure the DPM 3, 3SE, and 4 floppy drive is the same DD Epson model that went into some Atari STacy machines. The SP also has a floppy drive but HD... Might be cabled slightly differently than for an ST (twisted or not...I'll have to look...) but it's the same number of pins and a stock floppy drive. I'll let you know how it goes when mine arrives next month :)

If only the exchange rate were better over seas...I'd order several...US dollar is crap right now :(

I've had a look through the SD version manual; can I assume that you can make folders for each different computer you have? If yes I will buy one large 16GB SD card to contain the images for my STE, Falcon 030, Amstrad CPC6128 and Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3 128K.

Folders works very well.
I have several folders for different type of "floppies" based on genre.
I have a "boot disk" at the root...

I finally ordered one.
It will make my life easier for composing on STe (as many come with buggy DMA chip, and then don't work with SantaDisk).

I don't know about SatanDisk, but I have an STe with faulty DMA chip and my UltraSatan works perfect. Only problem is with files bigger than 30 MB, but I never reach it on my Atari :D

Even when writing? Because that's the problematic point on these.

I have to recognize that mostly I used it for transfering files from the PC to the ST, but I also transfered files from the ST to the PC, so at some point I wrote on the US. I'll do an accurate test though. Thanks for highlighting it to me

You aware that this uses the SD like a floppy which means you can only access files up to the size of the floppy.
USD uses the entire SD so you can have a bigger file in regions of MBs.

Did you know that you can generate a "monster floppy" image with the software (4.23MB on ST) ?

Additionnaly i plan to make a HDD driver for ST to turn the SD HxC Floppy Emulator as a Hard Disk drive !

Ah yes true, i used that already on the USB version. :)

Wow, that would be fantastic! 8O
I would have never expected it to be doable.

By the way Jeff, do you know Total Commander? It's a PC file browser à la Norton Commander (the old DOS program) and it supports various extensions types.
One of these is archive extension, and some did extensions to manipulate .ADF and .ST disk archive. So you can browse files in those images, copy files from it, files to it, create directories, etc... like a .ZIP archive.
Do you think you could do an extension for it to manipulate your specific disk image type this way?
Here is some documentation about its archive plug-in system.
