Arduino USB keyboard adapter ?

Postby PeterS » Wed Apr 19, 2017 10:38 pm

I wondered if anyone had used an Arduino to connect a USB keyboard/mouse to a computer with ps/2 sockets.

I found the exact opposite, ps/2 keyboard for USB computer but it I wonder if it could be reversed ?

Plug the USB keyboard in to the Arduino and translate the codes into ps/2 sent to the computer.
This would open up a great many USB keyboards for use with the Milan.

Not to my knowledge, but sure it can be done. You would need a USB host shield, or an "Arduino" of some kind that has USB host capabilities, because it would be tricky to bitbang both PS/2 (two ports) and USB host reliably at the same time.

The appropriate solution is of course to use an IKBD->PS2 adapter so you can use a TT/Mega keyboard with your Milan ;) I did that six or seven years ago.

I want to be able to use a wireless keyboard and mouse and there are virtually no ps/2 ones around these days. The cheap one I have isn't very nice to type on.
