My game room

Postby Atarinewbie77 » Mon Apr 01, 2019 5:02 pm

So I’ve been collecting sega master system games for years but ive recently branched out into my first love the Atari 8 bit.

I owned an Atari 65xe back in the day but I decided to get an 800 because I always liked the way they looked. I picked up a brand new one off ebay last year but unfortunately it was the NTSC version. I sorted that problem recently by having it converted to PAL! I’ve just purchased a sd-drivemax to go with it and I have to say it was worth every penny!

I also picked up a nice Atari stfm which after a little soldering to the joystick mounts now works perfectly!

Anyway here are a few pictures of my set up! All my machines run on crt tv’s the LCD is just for TV :)

Welcome and a nice games room! What games do you play on your Atari STFM?

At the moment my game of choice on the ST is Turrican, I was quite surprised when I slotted it in at just how good it was. I also enjoy playing the old dizzy games because I used to play them as a kid on my mates C64 and I was gutted they were never released on the Atari 8 bit. Ive got quite a bundle of ST games to work through... One box that’s caught my eye is cadaver but ive not had chance to try it yet

So many great games - make sure you try'em all! There are literally
dozens (maybe hundreds?) of "what's your fav Atari ST game" topics
here - just search for them to find the most popular titles. :)

Indeed check that topic for great ST recommendations : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=611

Those "game room" setups are always cool to see.
I wonder how often one does dust cleaning in this kind of hideout. ;)

Ha, maybe once I get my Falcon and A4000 systems sorted and set up correctly, I'll take a pic of my game room, though those go into the RPG/Tabletop room in the corner, my other game room is where I eventually will get my 8bits and various STs set up.
Atari 8Bits: 800xl, 600xl, XEGS, 800, 130xe, 130xe (VBXE, U1MB, Stereo POKEY)
Atari STs: 1040STf (broken shifter), 1040STe, Mega STe, TT030, Falcon (CT60e, SuperVidel)

That's a nice setup! When I had a decent sized room I put dust covers on my machines.
If we had a spare room I'd put my Outrun machine and STs in there instead of in the kitchen but my missus says she would like a Tiki Bar.
We need a bigger house!
Still got, still working: Atari 4Mb STe, 520STFM, 2.5Mb STF.
Hardware: Cumana CSA 354, Ultimate Ripper, Blitz Turbo, Synchro Express II (US and UK Versions).

 for the comments! Ill check out the link with games :coffe:

As for dust... it takes some dusting but the wife does that  im very lucky that she also enjoys retro gaming!

One game that I did buy was wonderboy in monsterland but compared to the Sega Master System version its pretty poor.

Edit:

I just see on that thread Xenon 2 and fire and ice! These two are definitely going on the list and ill be youtubing a few more off there too

You have an Outrun machine?
That's possibly the coolest thing I've heard in the past 24 hours!

Yes, but the cabinet is damaged. It needs a new front panel and foot rest. The electronics work, but the monitor has severe burn in.
