Games & demos that don't run on WinSTon

Postby Steven Seagal » Sun Sep 26, 2010 10:02 am

Hi.
I wonder if there's a list somewhere of some games and demos that don't run on WinSTon 0.5 because of emulation issues?
It's best if the same images do run on Steem or SainT, as it shows it's Winston's fault.

With the greatest of respect Mr Seagal, sir - Why are you running WinSTon over STeem, SainT or Gemulator? I think most people would agree WinSTon is a dead duck along with PacifiST due to lack of development.

On a more positive note, I definitely see some mileage in a definitive database that covers compatibility with emulators adopted as true 'Standards' (i.e. STeem) or under active development. At some point in the future when the demos and menus areas of Atari Legend are developed, the database should include such information?

I will tag this thread in the AL area of the forum of which I am a member so that we have some chance of remembering it!

You won't believe it, but I'm looking into improving on WinSTon! Steem is the dead duck now. I mean, it's Marked for Death. Anyway, if you come with some examples, that would be nice.

ok then - I'm happy to help where I can.
There is no list that I am aware of, so it will be a case of us making one.

Now given the scale of such a task, would it be better to simply flag up the ones that fail to start altogether before we look at the minor foibles (GFX corruption and sound issues)?

Hatari is doing this since its first incarnation. Hatari is based on the WinSTon source and nearing STEEM's toes by now.
Starting another project is probably not a good use of resources.

What resources?
I just tried Goldrunner in Hatari, and it wasn't better than in WinSTon, well below Steem.
Anyway, if you come with some examples, that would be nice.

I'm just looking for games/demos that frankly fail in WinSTon compared with Steem, like not running, or totally wrong display, etc. Only in the ST domain. But don't go out of your way, I thought there were notorious cases.

Steven,

I agree with SSB. Join up with Hatari team instead, and help them improve on ST/E section.
