Looking for java YM emu

Postby accxess » Fri Feb 20, 2009 8:01 am

Hi!

I am looking for a java YM-player to put on my webpage. Does one exist that is free to use? I am prepared to pay if I need to :)
Thanks
/Tobias

leonard has an ST-sound browser plugin, maybe thats what you are thinking about. Equinox has a great java player but I don't think that one is for up for grabs..
thanks!

BTW a Flash player would also work.

Yeah we know about those 2 errors but it's always been too much of a hassle to find the old sources and recompile the applets. The DW / Cybernoid 2 error came from a bad copy-paste of another author field afair.

Cybernoid 2's Atari version was made by Mad Max of course, not David Whitta(c)ker.

Is the java source available by any chance? ;) All I want is the "player" not any of GUI or "demo" stuff. I will make my own gfx and gui
Thanks!

Accxess : I could give it a look someday but I have no idea where the sourcecode is, which is the reason why we never fixed those mistakes in the credits (along with lazyness).

Otherwise, you could ask Mandrixx. He made a more recent java applet that can replay a lot of formats and probably with a less experimental code and a much more recent version of Java (not restricted to crappy 8KHz): http://www.plopbox.net/

Hello, Atari World!
I just found your posting about a Java-YM player.

Well,
maybe I have a solution for you:
I coded a Java YM player which was originally designed to playback Amstrad CPC music.
But it has a variable AY emulation, so it should also be able to playback Atari ST YM files as well.

Image
Supported:
!YM2, !YM3, !YM5 and !YM6

Also LHA compressed YM work here.

You can check it here:
http://cpc-live.com/ymplayer.php (Playing 3 CPC tunes)

You can download it here:
http://cpc-live.com/data/list.php?dir=-tool

Atari ST test: http://cpc-live.com/band.html

Sorry, no parameter documentation yet.
But it has some params to change some internal settings.
It also works as standalone app:
java -jar YMPlayer.jar

Here's another possibility how to embed it:
http://blueangel69.cpc-live.com

Please post your feedback.

Cheers,
Markus

Here is the applet-html usage:
Code: Select all
<APPLET ARCHIVE="YMPlayer.jar"
        CODEBASE="http://yourdomain.com/pathtoymplayer.jar"
        CODE="Player.core.webapplet.class"
        WIDTH=180 HEIGHT=44>
<param name="FILE" value="blueangel.txt">
<param name="SMALL" value="true">
<param name="VOLUME" value="50">
<param name="BACKGROUND" value="160701">
</APPLET>

The size is different to large usage:
Code: Select all
WIDTH=425 HEIGHT=150

The parameter FILE is an obligatory.
It can contain:
filename.ym (when the YM makes trouble, because it's too large, zip it! There's somewhere a bug in loading the file. Sorry guys)
filename.zip

It can also contain:
filelist.txt

The filelist.txt contains all your YM files you want to play:
My example:
antiriad.zip
deathwish3.zip
cybernoid1.zip

The parameter VOLUME can have a value between 0 and 100 (0-100% output volume)

The parameter SMALL lets the player appear as small applet only.

The parameter BACKGROUND defines the player's background colour and is the RGB hex-value. (e.g. 000000 for black or FFFFFF for white)
You should keep it dark ;-)

Any questions? Feel free to ask

I hopefully fixed the load code for larger files:
http://cpc-live.com/data/list.php?dir=-tool

Try the YMPlayer1.0b.zip

A online test for it is here:
http://cpc-live.com/ymtest2

Please check this and report me a bug / Java console log if the applet does not load the tune (320k) correctly.

Thanks for sharing your sources.

Well for me is not useful because:
- Only mono output.
- no LHA compacted YM files possible.

But it's a nice, small appet to embed quickly into websites!

I will attach my sources here.
You can use it as you want.
But always give credit to me when you use it in public places!
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
