Postby NonToXIC » Tue Jul 18, 2006 12:33 pm

When's the 2.0 version of SainT releases?
520 STFM w/ 1 MB RAM and tons of floppies with Automation menus on them. What joy!

Good question LOL, what's holding it back Leonard? (probably just lack of spare time like me)

Oh yes I'm totally busy with two things:

a) I decided to learn guitar (and beleive me it may me as hard as learning programming :-))

b) My second daughter "Nina" is born on July, 19. So it's hard to find any spare time for SainT !! :-)

I agree, it's hard. I also started learing guitar. The tender fingertips and cramps keep me from coding too. :)

Congratulations also!

Well, it sounds like "Marie Curie" too, which is a bit better (just my opinion :-))

Congratulations to you & your lady on your new Little Girl!

I have been attempting to play Guitar on & off for ten years and still struggle. I can just about manage the intro to 'smoke on the water' & 'stairway to heaven' ;-)

You may want to make sure your good Lady doesn't hit you on the head with the Guitar if she is up in the middle of the night feeding the new baby, LOL!

stairway to heaven is a little bit more difficult to play than smoke on the water though ....;)

Yeah PowerChords Rule! \../

The police 'every breath you take' & The intro to Guns 'n' Roses 'Paradise City' are about as complicated as my Playing gets though!

I used a Sample of Paradise City in A little Stos demo I done in 93-94 which runs ok in Saint.(See it's not off topic !!!)

Great hobby, leonard :D .
I didn't spent much time playing guitar in the last 20 years, wish i had. And now i don't have enough time for it.
BTW, 'Owner of a lonely heart' from Yes has a similar beginning like 'Smoke on the water'.
For the start, i suggest something more quiet. I started with a Beatles songbook to practice cords. 'Shine on your crazy diamonds' is not too hard to try lead guitar.

Shine on your crazy diamonds

As you spoke about beatlles just before I'm confused. Are you talking about the "Pink Floyd" song, right?

Do you have nice website ressource with tablatures and , most important, videos? :-)

Yes, Pink Floyd. Thought everyone knows it  .
And no, i don't have other ressources, which were hard to get 25 years ago  . Had to use my ears instead.

There are tons of guitar videos on youtube.

And if you want tabs, the best ressource was olga.net. The site offered tons of tabs while many years (i firstly visited in 98 ). It was still active some weeks ago but looks like it has some legal issues atm. Hope it comes back very soon.

And no... I'm no guitar player (but bass player) ;)

a nice site with lots of guitar vids (various styles):

http://www.freeguitarvideos.com/

another site with very good lessons (has audio but no video):
http://www.guitarnoise.com/

And if you are looking for (very) easy songs to learn, try stuff like Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here" or "Money" or some Metallica stuff (Fade To Black and Nothing Else Matters come to mind and bring back some cool memories too :) )
And if you want to learn an easy and cool solo, here is a good start (listed as an 'intermediate' level song, it really isn't that hard):
http://www.guitarnoise.com/article.php?id=422

And congratulations to Leonard of course :)
