In April 2012 we will play Super Sprint at the STOT Classics.

To be able to compare scores, we will always play with starting at the first track, the one at 12o'clock or central top of the selection screen shown here:

Does autofire help at all? I tend to need to brake at this game ;)

My first score was below 10000 so I won't bother to post a shot.

186,090 (not bolded, unsubmitted)
I kept messing the ramp up... when yuor speed is too high it's easy to crash there.

Now, I'm not going to submit this score, this is just for fun ;-) The reason is, I found a glitch and I can get a score as high as I like. I will play "properly" and will probably get about 50,000 like most other people!

23240

A bit of a combined effort by the Boschan_Boys as you might note by the Red and Yellow cars taking places, no cheating. Yeah the keyboard effort on the Blue car we kinda gave up. Interestingly Ragstaff got his best "cheating" score with the Blue car. What's going on?

Over 10000 & the only dual entry to date, we're posting.

if it's real, all credit goes to you, still hard to believe, sorry

ok, seems i read too fast once again, apologize  but when i saw the score i just though 'it can't be possible' because i know how fast is the gameplay at this point

sorry ragstaff, good race too everyone :)

Oh boy, the game becomes quite fast and it takes some concentration...

I don't remember how far i got when i got the score i posted earlier but i did not notice much that it was faster... the problem was that i had upgraded my car too much so it was unplayable (for me that is), i should have skipped the speed upgrades :?

1) When I used to play it as a child, I always preferred the keyboard and my friends would have joysticks. So on that attempt, I used the keyboard.
2) Now I am attached to the blue car for nostalgic reasons. So I changed the joystick controls over to blue. Just hit F1 on the title screen to get into Options and setup

Playing the game has sped your mind up a bit, it would seem ;-)
I got this score without snapshots, I can do it on a real ST with no input aside from through the joystick ;-) I will describe what I did after April ;-) But I will not use this technique for this comp and I think it will be impossible for me to beat simonsunnyboy's score of 63,140, as I'm just not that good.

kind of trick then? not quite sure to understand.. is it legal ? :) looking forward to your desription after april anyway

anyway, a quick run at the 3rd try (first:910 :D ), 2nd (around 17000), 3rd: 36060

i think the most difficult track is where there's the 'high jump', if you crash, you're done.. i use the key bonus to improve my score (twice), don't know if it's allowed..

will try to improve tonight

ss.st.run2.png

bonus key used :
- traction x3
- turbo accel. x3
- increase score x3

I might have beat the highest score if i had bought more 'increase score' bonus but not sure also, so congrat..

i got a bit of luck regarding how tornadoes & oil paths were set in this run, this helped me to reach this score

I think I can do a fair bit better than that, I just got unlucky in one race.
I am hitting fire for player 2 and player 3 as the slower drones are really annoying me sometimes.
coy wrote:kind of trick then? not quite sure to understand.. is it legal ? :) looking forward to your desription after april anyway

I don't think it should be legal, no. If it were legal, there would be no sport, we could just get whatever score we wanted. But as I said, all I need is the joystick and I can do it ;-)

The highjump is very hard when you have High Speed 2 or 3, yes. You have to enter the ramp down low or you will crash when you land. I am used to it now and it's one of my favourite tracks, I can do the whole race without bumping the walls.

I find too many speed upgrades makes the car difficult to control. So I am using "increase score" a lot. I think that's perfectly legal.
Also, YES with the luck. Good and bad luck can make or ruin a race. If the black oil slick is placed on the ramp in track 4, and the tornado is in the same place, it's nearly impossible to win. You will get crashed into the wall again and again and still end up on the wrong side of the oil (ie you have to try to get through it again). Sure, you can wait until the tornado is out of the way but by that time the drone has won.

Sorry I don't think that is fair. The race is meant against all 3 active opponents! Esp as all other players against 3 others...

Increase score is ofcourse allowed, it is an official bonus to buy and I did too.

I see your perspective, however from my perspective I don't see it as unfair. It's not using a cheat code or hack or emulator function, and it doesn't allow for infinite, silly scores. It removes the slowest cars, not the fastest. You can't drive any slower, you still need to beat green's time. But if nobody else wants to play this way then I will agree.

I have been playing a lot today and I have a higher score that way, but with these rules my new high score is 78330 (no tricks, three drones for every race)/
I was really pissed off when I died here. Look at my best lap and average lap, it's a lot quicker than the drones! But I got stuck at the last jump on track 6, up in the corner. Next time...

The game isn't impossible yet at that stage, but the pressure is on. One mistake can mean a loss. I got a tornado on last corner after winning most of the race Yellow_Hot_Colorz_PDT_46 Yellow_Hot_Colorz_PDT_21 Yellow_Hot_Colorz_PDT_45

Hopefully you get a chance to have another go!
The main way I am getting high scores is by only buying a few upgrades and then spending the rest of the spanners on "Increase score". I think my scores are quite average for someone using that technique. Lots of people should be able to drive better than me and get higher scores.

I have played this game for many years though ;-) I remember in about 1989, I was about 8 and my grandfather was laughing at the game because I kept bumping into the walls. He'd call me a "wrapper" (his word for a crasher, maybe slang for his generation here is Aus. Maybe it meant people who wrap their cars around poles?), but didn't want to have a go himself ;-)

I did much better when we played the game in the STOT. But it's ok for now. I always choose "increase score".
