STOT s2r15. A sinister centipede that became an asteroid.

Hopefully we'll all enjoy trying to beat xerus once again :). Please download Sinister Development's ST centipede and join the fun.

Due to a logic flaw in the game that made it too easy we moved to ST asteroids by sinister dev

My first score: 48293

There thems to be a bug, so that you play endless, because the zero lifes is not detected, beside that it's a nice blast.

Unbelievable your scores :-) This looks like a cool comeptition.

I also have a lot of times the bug described by Xerus. But I got used to it.

88078

Now got over 100k for the first time: 108410 To be the first in the hall of fame so > 150k is still a good aim

Playing with a cheatmode (intended or not) breaks all competition - no fun this way :(

No cheat mode for me, if i see the bug i activate the game over.
The real problem with this game is the centipede that can hang on one side thanks to the mushrooms. :(
The game is too easy after that, so no skill and no merit, just focus !

now what you mean Xerus. In other Centipede/Millipede versions, in that case some more centipede's would appear and so it would be more difficult. Seens that the programmers paid more attention to the intro then in testing the game, cause there are a few things, that are so obviously wrong, that it's hard to understand, that none of them saw that before releasing the game.

It looks like we once again have a situation, that the choosen game does not fits to a competition needs. Well it's not good, but at least a results that was not known before.

I enjoyed playing the game, but after one day we could say, it's not usefull for another 1,5 weeks.

So I suggest to play Cypernoid II - The Revenge instead. What's yours opinion?

I agree with you, it's a pity, technically the game is good but the gameplay has flaws :(

Another suggestion, since you like centipede, why not try Millipede (Atari/Andromeda Software)? :)
Or actually another game of Sinister Development, replacing or for a next round and vote again during this round.

Astroidia by Sinister Developments is nice too (and STE enhanced)....my vote would go for that!

@Xerus, I tested Millipede. I remember that it was one of my first games I played on the ATARI and well it's to slow nowadawys, it made no fun to me.

@SSB, there is a slightly :-) difference between Asteroidia and ST Asteroids from Sinister. But well this round was opened to honor Sinister Dev. and thair games are really masterpieces of the scenegames, so I suggest playing

ST Asteroids

I tested it, and it was fun to play. My prefered ST Asteroids is Megaroids, but what I like on the Sinister interpretation is that they used ST Low instead of ST Mid (Megaroids), so the screen is smaller and the there is more action. I like that.

Does anyone have the disk for ST Format Issue 43? According to ggn, there is a bugfree version of Centipede on and I want to try that out....

@SSB: The main problem is not the end of game bug, you get used to it, and after a while it does not disturb that much any more. The problem as Xerus described is, that it's easy to wait until the centipede is stuck in a corner and then simply kill all the spiders who do not become faster. So it's just a question of concentration and time until you reach the score you want. As Xerus said, this is not a competition.

@Haohmaru: many thanks for your links

After a short discussion with Christos on IRC we decided, that we will play from now on

ST Asteroids

May we have more fun with this game. Anyway, ST Centipede will be a nice story to write something about, hope to get some time to do that

Trust me jump back aboard the good ship h.m.s. STOT just in time for Asteroids. Man, I suck at this! The original arcade is hard enough; this is like a claustrophobia sufferer's nightmare! At least I missed out on the Centipedal horror.

And it is also a nightmare to put her name in the hall of fame
You spend more time trying to fire on the right letter instead of playing the game (Ok, I exaggerate a little) :)

7740 for a first try, plenty of room for improvement...

ssb_asteroids_7740.png

Somehow I prefer Astroidia or Megaroids over this one. Looks too dull and the nag screen upon boot are really too annoying :P
