Other emu's with RS232 emulation?

Postby tschak909 » Sat Aug 25, 2018 6:19 am

Are there other ST emulators with RS232 support?

I've managed to get RS232 emulation working in Hatari, _JUST_ ... piping tcpser to socat and pointing hatari to a pty exposed by socat.

Is there a less convoluted solution? :)

On which platform? With what RS-232 interface (real one, remote machine)?

Windows or Linux,
with either a real RS232 interface or interfaceable to something virtual. (I am currently interfacing Hatari to a Raspberry Pi zero running tcpser, but running Linux in a virtualbox VM + Hatari and its SDL2 handling is awkward as hell.)

also worth mentioning, that RS232 emulation doesn't work on Windows AT ALL because of its use of stdio file functions for opening the serial port (the windows com devices only open with the win32 API functions.)

I would have thought that you can give Hatari directly the Linux serial device file, but that of course assumes that you've made sure that your Linux and Atari side serial settings match (speed, bits etc).

Unfortunately nobody has contributed support for that.

(None of Hatari developers has/uses Windows, so any Windows features and testing of them needs to come from somebody else. Hatari Windows builds are done on Linux with MinGW. Any testing done for them needs to come from outsiders.)
