I'm not sure whom to address this with, but I would like to request permission for people to add Atari 8-bit related information to your Atari wiki.

Thanks!

Are there no 8-bit specific Wiki's out there? We're trying to keep it for Atari ST and higher models but I'm open to ideas from others who use it.
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

I've looked around but the only one I've found so far was completely in Polish, and I can't read Polish :) It's possible I haven't looked hard enough though...

Well then you could start your own atari 8 bit wiki evilmoo, and maybe you could associate it with an 8 bit forum?
Muguk created our wiki here and now he has immense POWER! so I am sure he could point you in the right direction for creating one for your 8 bit machines  , then you will be able to rule with an iron fist like our overlord.
All you need is a relevant forum to host it for you...

I think it's ok to mention other platforms as long as the context of the article is how that platform relates to the ST, however I'm not sure what Mug thinks of that given his comment above.

A couple of short articles I created with this "ST context" are:
http://www.atari-forum.com/wiki/index.php/Megadrive
http://www.atari-forum.com/wiki/index.php/Sega

So I think it's ok to create an article for each of the Atari 8 bit machines with the context as described above, and I think those articles have every right to be a lot bigger than the "megadrive" article above.

When it comes to big lists of 8 bit games, software, and coding groups though, that might get in the way a bit.

I don't think we have the contributers and know-how right now to manage multiple platfrorms well enough (through categorisation regimes etc), to stop lists of 8 bit software being mixed up with 16 bit etc.

I'll clarify my comment above then.

If you can keep it separate and away from the 16-bit side of things (as that was why the Wiki was created in the first place as that's what it says at the top of the page on this forum) then go ahead. The more the merrier.

I'm sure the owner of the Polish Wiki will be happy to translate any articles you upload for their own Wiki as he's a nice enough bloke (hi! Protos).

As for RG's "as usual" comments - ignore them. Most people do :)

As Mug says (all hail him), don't take my comments seriously but still I would suggest that unless we are also going to expand the forum itself to include 8-bits then doing so in the Wiki would perhaps be off-topic and out of place entirely?
As invariably any queries or conversation regarding said 8-bit related material in the wiki would end up taking place in the forum..
And once you open that door what if all things Atari want to be there?
So in my opinion.. we should let them in both or none :)
I suppose the old saying "in for a penny - in for a pound" may be relevant?

But again, ignore my comments until they turn out to make sense
