Zool uses STE hardware scrolling if it is available :-)

Yep, Zool had top coding imho!

BTW I remember seeing Fire & Ice on the Amoeba. Can't remember going mad with joy over the frame rate there as well, although there were less slowdowns....

As I said, a pity.

BTW: Zweckform of Paradox (IIRC?) has created a very nice web site dedicated to Atari STE only (and enhanced) software, including games. Check it out:

Following on from a thread elsewhere (http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=49312#49312)... someone might need to take a look at and compare:

Chase HQ & Cisco Heat as both had some coding done by Douglas Little (who coded PhotoChrome) ...

Starball

Postby paulinus » Tue Dec 13, 2005 12:51 pm

Welcome
I'm sure that I've played starball on my old stfm. I'll try to find that floppy and test it once more. Maybe it's prerelease, or beta edition? But it definietly worked well on non-ste machine :)

I also sure Starball is STFM compatible and I don't think its even STE enhanced (maybe STE routine for title music since its a Quartet tune)

Starball is definitely not STe only. Don't know if Dave's tracker module had any STe code in it though. The game itself is Falcon enhanced, but not STe enhanced.

Bumping an old thread. Can anybody see where Venus flytrap is STe enhanced? It looks identical to the ST version.

Oh btw Zool is using the blitter. I stuck some printfs in the Hatari code and ran the game. Nice example of using the hardware.

From memory (and it maybe in this thread) someone uploaded a screenshot of it running on both an ST and an STE and the only difference was to do with the colours used in the background apparently?

"Pushago", "Boulder Smash" and "Enemy War" are also STE enhanced.

http://www.rgcd.co.uk/r0x/

r0x is STE only. And so is the (currently unreleased) prequel ;)

Both games are use the blitter and dma. And r0x zer0 requires the enhanced joystick ports on the side of the machine.
