Req : "Maupiti Island" -English- original (STX, ...)

Postby Maartau » Sat Jan 17, 2015 1:53 am

Happy new year to everyone :D ,

I'm looking for "Maupiti Island" in English version (uncracked), if possible in STX or other format.

Not seen an uncracked version of Maupiti Island in English, even Lankhor themselves don't have a uncracked version. It should also be noted that the game was released in German also, I remember bidding on it a few yeras ago but lost out to a higher bidder in the end.

Seems really hard to find...

From eBay : @ $34.48 (and the language isn't precised) -> coming from Spain...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Maupiti-Island- ... 3aa0200804

And one of the highest price I've seen for amiga : $113.83 8O -> coming from Germany...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAUPITI-ISLAND- ... 23495e7225

Talking of rare stuff of Lankhor, as anyone seen this pre Lankhor release of Mortville Manor:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Atari-ST-Game ... mputing_RL

I can imagine this going for hefty price. Some one should contact the winner of the auction to see if will scan the box and contents, and maybe even STX the disks.

I've found another compilation which contains "Mortville Manor"...

This is called "Aventures Extraordinaires", seems to be also in two disks but as the seller is from France, I think it's in French...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATARI-ST-COMPIL ... 418e961439

BTW don't know if it's a rare compilation ?

Hell no :( ... And I don't know how we could contact the winner : he jumped from £77 to £152 next £155.

There's few games I'm ready to rebuy but due to a lack of money, I can't follow those prices :( .

I didn't expect it to go that high, just goes to show there are some serious collectors out there ready to jump on anything that is very rare. I doubt very much if the game itself is any different because the publisher Kyilkhor B&JL Langlois is mentioned in the game which is the same as the auction, Lankhor is not mentioned in the game at all. I would only stump up that much if it was a missing game of note,

Like in my case, as I restarted from scratch to be active on ST, I only own a 1040 4Megs + mono. monitor + an UltraSatan + an USB PC/Mac Floppy drive (for the moment :) )...

Prices are becoming too high & I'm not interested by doing "business" or just collecting things for only having them : if I had some originals, I'll of course share them with the community (especially when they are rare).

I mainly collect dumps are they can be useful in many cases (recrack, fixes, nostalgia...).

"I imagine I buy an original at a high price & wish to dump it : surprise if the disks are dead, or as I seen recently some sellers changing stickers and/or content of the floppies too  ".

Alas, Iron Lord Disks are dead, rocket Ranger from Cinemaware too as it seems, but Mortvielle Manor is OK :)

If I ask, that's mainly because I noticed some compilations have slight differences too (sometimes copylocks removed, some bugs fixed, ...).

Iron Lord & Rocket Ranger are available @ aTaRiMaNiA 8).

I think Mortville Manor should be the same version as AM.

What's "interesting", the French dump (http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-st ... _9799.html) have a curious smiley when seeking & there's no German version available :(

Iron lord is the same as the retail version, but rocket ranger seems different (broken alas), and Mortvielle Manor use the usual Starter 70 sectors protection track :)

Yes, horrible cover art ! A nice game & I'm surprised not having found an uncracked UK version :( .

I don't know if it was well sold outside France :| ...

I don't know why they used this cover. The "official" one (the one I know from Atari ST) should be this: http://planete-aventure.net/jeux/maupiti.jpg which is quite gorgeous.

Maybe it was a first version.
Why do you need the uncracked version?

Maintenant j'ai envie de rejouer à ce jeu sur mon Atari... ;)

Should I play it on Atari or Amiga?...

That's my fav' too 8) .

I would like to try to crack it by myself, the only cracked UK version I've seen was done by Zippy/Medway Boys...

Else, there's lotsa French versions already done but that's really the UK I'm missing :) .

Je ne sais pas ce que ça donne sur Amiga... Et je crois que je vais essayer la version PC :D .

There is many release what has no image of original available, so English Maupiti is just one of them. There are lists here, at Atarimania ...
If I remember correct there are 2 diverse cracks of English Maupiti. Other one is some fat , 12 sector/track format, single floppy , what has own format function , what never worked for me. So, I guess that it worked only with slower floppy drives. Therefore less known.
New crack of Maupiti would be good for sure. As new crack of Giana is done, because older one is not done that good.
Probably, after some time it will appear, so Maartau, your fun for days after retirement is secured
Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

Have you the other one disks (12 sector/track format, single floppy & own format function) ?
(I wasn't aware there was a release like this for the UK version).

For the French version "MAXI" have included an internal copy program, and there's "Supremacy" crack but already link-filed :( .
AtariZoll wrote:New crack of Maupiti would be good for sure. As new crack of Giana is done, because older one is not done that good..

At least, "Supremacy" (Fr) crack was "faulty" (we should ask to Klaz), I haven't played Zippy's version (I trust his work :D ).

The worst, there's even nothing under eBay, etc... So, let's keep fingers crossed, who knows ?

In fact, German should be more easy to get; I've just seen there's also a Spanish version -> I suppose the same hard way to get it  ...
