Postby Heavy Stylus » Fri Apr 18, 2008 10:08 am

Anyone out there patched these to work from HD?

Edit:- I've got Spacefighter now.

Is this why you're trying to contact Dune; for info about Space Fighter?

No - on one of the Stax disks there's a tool called Dune View - a great image viewer that runs from GEM, but I don't recognise the file type - they are some sort of packed *.PI3 files, IIRC.

In the readme it mentions another graphics tool supporting this format, but I can't find it online and it wasn't included on their Anthology 15 Years CDR.

I just wanted to know if they actually released these tools or not.

Anyway - back to the thread title - I just wanted to know if there were any patched versions kicking about so I can install these on my STE HD. ;)

Stardust looks pretty good. It is on 3 nonstandard floppies (direct FDC access). If you have enough RAM it can be patched to load levels from some kind of RAMdisk - 4MB RAM requred presumable... I will see if can be done fast.

Excellent! I never knew that Stardust was released on the Atari, I used to love Super Stardust on your CD32 back in the day!

Stardust on the STE is pretty damn good El. Will load it up on the weekend for you. Not quite as good as the Amiga original (the map screen is greyscale unlike on the miggy), but nonetheless it is a superb port of a technically amazing game.

Those tunnel sequences... Superb.

I was under the impression that the Amiga version is a port of the STE original? Maybe I'm wrong.

Also, Super Stardust on AGA/PC/CD32 is a newer and slightly different game than Stardust.
