Do you really mean 'the entire TOSEC', including all ISO's? That would be more than 1000GB. I don't think, that someone hosts all the files.

The torrent "TOSEC Atari ST Games (2006-06-14)" contains the following Sets:

\Atari\ST\Compilations\Games
\Atari\ST\Games\Public Domain
\Atari\ST\Games\[ST]
\Atari\ST\Games\[STX]

and the other torrent "TOSEC Atari ST Other (2006-06-14)" contains all of the rest of the Atari ST (non-games) set form TOSEC (2006-06-14) Complete and Torrentzipped.

Is there an Atari ST newsgroup? I am now signed up to a news server, torrents are but a tedious memory for me now... :)

Atari ST stuff does get posted to a.b.atari and slo groups like a.b.emulators.misc

but that NG isn't what it used to be when I first started using NGs and the emulator scene - for atari stuff at least :?

you can check out some of the things on offer here:

http://www.binsearch.info/?q=atari+st&max=250&adv_age=99&server=

mostly LZH's of utils etc, but you may find something in there

Otherwise check out things like
http://www.binsearch.info/?q=TOSEC+atari&max=250&adv_age=99&server=

http://www.binsearch.info/?q=TOSEC&max=250&adv_age=99&server=

Just make sure your NG provider has a good retention as somethings are older than 50 days - most providers of course are giving 70 day plus now anyway so should be fine

You might be interested to know that someone (no idea) has published what looks to be an update to the Atari ST TOSEC library into a.b.emulators.misc.

Attached are the two NZB's you'll need to leech 'em.

Enjoy :)

oh and someone else was moaning about incomplete files for some version of GBST that someone uploaded ......... :)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Great stuff :) and rather than put all of the files into an archive he has upped them all as individual files....
Why do they do that?
Funny though as I have been thinking of uploading the TOSECs from Keili's FTP (which I now have) but in parts no larger than about 2 gig perhaps, or should I upload all of the images individually like that genius did?
:)

when it comes too TOSEC, how come they never remove all BAD images. would be far more intressting pack if it was an 100% collection..

there should be a better way of the control system, than just add [a],[b] versions..

would probly reduce the pack sizes to about 50% maybe even more!

Unfortunately that's what TOSEC is about, it indexes everything...and as most 'collectors' are completeists it means bandwidth/media and time is wasted getting to 100%. I can see no way round this method as if the bad dumps were simply removed the collectors would complain loudly.

There is a possible workaround so at least the bandwidth is reduced to a minimum. If all the similar images are packed together as a single file with a solid archiver you'd get 100% of the files with little space/bandwidth wastage and as long as the first item in the solid archive is the known good image unpacking time would be reduced.

The GoodMerge program does this for the good renamer roms/images but afaik there's nothing similar to do this with the TOSEC images (GoodMerge will pack TOSEC images but it's not done very well as there's no individual TOSEC xmdbs).

Of course there are people who don't want to see images distributed in this combined solid archive format (solid 7z or solid rar) as they are of the opinion it's a lot more work to load the images into emulators, this is not actually as much work as it would appear though. The space savings (downloads and HD/DVD space) and the smaller number of files for a complete TOSEC set would be worth the hit. Hopefully like some other emulators ST emulators will eventually have 7z/rar support added to make it less of an issue.

Well, I still dont understand, why keep more or less exact same copys but labeled different (eg A, B etc etc).. esp when they both are more or less exact same bad imaged..

mather of fact. im just irritated of all Dupes all around.. which is more or less bad copys from the very same sorce.. TOSEC..

I dont blame the IDEA of Tosec. .just it wouldnt mind if some more power was set on the Testing plan. then just collection like maddogs and release the batches as quick as possible for those who even dare too call DISK Images for ROMS!!

So in the first time.. I get mad of the sentance ROMZ!!

If you don't like it, don't use it  .
As Pugsy said, the philosophy is to list everything. As the crc is the main and only characteristic element of a file, i don't see a better way. Any suggestion?
