FS: Ebay Germany - This one caught my eye for the look of it

Postby Shredder11 » Wed Jan 04, 2012 1:40 pm

I guess it is just an early ST with different key caps, but still it caught my eye.

Ebay Item number: 330666598934

Translated text from auction reads:

Atari 520ST tested, functional and TOP State content of the auction is only the Atari computer (without a monitor, mouse, and power supply) with the Pack of replacement keyboard caps monitor is an own auction and for power supply mouse please text effects read Atari connected and tested with the SM124 monitor and floppy SF314 (both in other auction). Everything runs perfectly. For the stylish keyboard are in the process still replacement keytops (special keys and numeric keypad). Since I am still an Atari 520ST (other auction), but only a mouse and a power supply, so I have to make it salomonisch: one of the two bidders (Atari 520ST / Atari 520ST) me for power supply, mouse and floppy disks the highest price after conclusion of the auction is called, will receive the Pack to do this. Thus no auction, everyone may call a price, which I share with them. Then everyone can correct the prize only once. The highest known price will then receive the Pack. You can see pictures in detail at the end. Shipped via insured package (usually HERMES, where after consultation/against charge also DHL can be included). The article, and all contained parts are packed in protective film and additionally padded. The conditions of the consignor shall apply. Check request upon receipt on damages because the shipping risk lies with the buyer. The item description is to the best of our knowledge and belief, without anything to conceal or gloss over. If you have questions please first make it. Postage is not the price of shipping company, since that time a carton approx. 1,50€ costs (more stable and more even more), bubble film and small material (here it takes 20-30 cut loose) approx. 0.50€ and air cushion locker 2.00 € record. So, no fantasy price these are because I had to buy me order supplies. Therefore, the shipping prices are non-negotiable. This is a private sale of second-hand goods. The sale takes place under exclusion of any warranty.

These caps you could buy seperately because some people didn't like the originals that came
with the ST. I for one find them really ugly ! Esp. the F-x keys break up the line of the machine.

Maybe, you can build a firebee in those 260 ST or 520 ST case , and make some place for a dvd drive.

I take it those are just new keycaps. If proper switches had been installed it would be well worth it. ST keyboards suck...

I have one of those keyboards. It's not just replacement caps, the silicon cups/switches are also replaced and there is a spring under each key. It's still not a fantastic keyboard, but much better than stock.

Please don't destroy a working ST for this. Atleast have the decency to find a broken one :)

I liked the mushy feeling of the Atari keyboard..... that's one of the key  differences between a PC and Atari for me...

What would you need to replace the cups below the keys and subsequently the keys?

You'll need one of the mentioned kits. I don't think they are available anymore. I don't even know who made them, I bought an already converted keyboard.

I can highly recommend the TT-Touch from Best. They make a great difference to the feel of any ST/Falcon keyboard.
STE: Desktopper case, IDE interface, UltraSatan (8GB + 512Mb) + HXC floppy emulator. Plus some STE's/STFM's

Seconded! Any ST/STe I've had, I 've put those in. Bit tedious with the multiple screws you have to remove
from the back of the keyboard, and remembering to prop up the *ends* of the keyboard itself, but well
worth the money IMHO.

I've got a set of those right now in my CT60 Falcons FreeKeys keyboard.

You know, Best Electronics sells those - someone might check there to see
if they had the white replacement caps as well. Brad has some odd stuff
there sometimes. :)

He does - I ordered a new set for my MegaST. They were US, but that doesn't matter to me.

Let's hope he's got some in stock. I sent a mail as I can't see an ordering page on there. He also has a spring set which is much cheaper at $9.95. Has anyone tried this?

I'm also in the UK, by the way.. wonder how much it'll cost to ship?
