Yes... Me too :-)

The only sources of 16/32-bit Ataris documentation I know, are:
1) http://dev-docs.atariforge.org/ - by Lonny Pursell (the guy behind GFA)
2) http://toshyp.atari.org/ - still work in progress by Gerhard Stoll

It's not the ST Internals or Profibuch, but if you are seeking for any technical documentation, these sites could be useful.

I wonder, if it would be possible to scan Profibuch and make it available in form of PDF ;-) Probably not, due to copyrights.

And the Profibuch being 1500 pages.

If it's in a loose leaf format then I've got a auto-document scanner - I just need to feed the pages through in batches of 50+ pages - a PDF comes out at the end and all very nice and neat they are too.

Got a book scanner too but that'll mean 750 separate scans plus a few extras for the outside ...
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Even then it would probably be too much work :(

What is actually the best book? ST Internals or Profi-buch?

The document scanner is a lot easier to use .. it's the proof-reading of the pages to make sure none are upside down etc. But you'd have to destroy a copy of the book to make it into a possible loose-leaf target to scan in using this particular machine.

It is possible to scan the book  . Some lunch breaks at work should be enough, if OCR is not needed.
If no one else has already started the job, i can do it next week.

I'm happy to do the OCR'ing once you've done the pages :)

I have a copy of Katherine Peels "The concise Atari ST 68000 programmers reference manual"

imho better than ST Internals, probably because it is more recent.

It is actually scanner friendly, the binding can be removed.

Maybe I can borrow one of my customers fab officecopying/scanner machines a couple of minutes and let the machine make a PDF of the whole thing?

Charles,

I have a scanner, I just don't feel like scanning hundreds of pages... :)

Some of my customers have fancy office copiers you just feed a stack of paper and automagically, a while later, a pdf appears with all the scanned papers...

Oh, how I wish I was the first one to use that word, but alas, I merely translated a swedish made up word.

But that might mean I get the credit of the english version?

Yeah! As the translator I give you the right to use it as much as you'd like, although I'd appreciate it if you could add a copyright notice. ;)

Gotta watch my rights... :contract:

so what is it with the rights issue any way ??,

i can see the rights applying to the owner of the work (the guy who did hands on to create all the stuff),
but how does this work for us????

...like the rights were imployed at the time of sale to the original buyer of the book we just got a hold of the book and now have made use of it ,
the original buyer of the book, he agreed to rights , and then obviouslly, years later broke his agreement buy releasing the book back into public.(or giving it away ...whatever he did to make book leaving his possesion).
....but or even worse , he too may have gone against the author/publisher's/owner's rights because sometimes i know work like these cannot to be re-sold.......or ......reduplicated....or...shared...or copied.........so that makes two guilty or
conflicting parties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is so similar to the thread fatracoon started about copyright and owner rights
of "abandon software" ...........

.it will most likely get thrown out of court , to be honest ,if anything arises from this...
this area of computer items being 15 years or more old....in fact if it is meant to be instructional ,and the systems to which it implys to are obselite.......what the big deal???

and someone trying to press charges???....like we don't even know where to get pressings of the publications...
in fact now that i think of it,i can find a third guilty party if nessesary , those book sellers on the internet,,,they are re-selling somebody elses work, thats propally against the copyrights too!!!! so with all the considerations, many people are involved,i believe the police will avoid this like black plauge , you know how many people would go to court if you made scans of a book you bought at a garage sale from somebody who bought this book from an-internet book seller ...a whole lot....well i am out of ideals but you know what i mean ?
i do not know for certain but if we don't buy into the book from day one when its released , how come the copyrights apply to us????

ok another brain storm ,,,what happens when we buy loose leaf books?
what if the copy right page is not present because all the previous owner desired was the contents of the book , and they are looses leaf because he "un bound" an old tadderedpreviousilly owned seocond or third owner book???

i see clearilly whats going to happen , we will all be made criminals for trying to program our atari computers....this is too simple minded....its all over for the the work in the book, it applies to nothing ,
i wonder if i can get my dinosar food reciepe copyright?
then the next time somebody makes a picture with dinosaur food written it in i can press charges , because i am the original owner of dinosaur foods inc!!!!
there are no more atari computer 1040 st??? are there any more dinosaurs?

hey is there any room for jokes???
i hope all you i the uk have a wal-mart............

A very loud, unattractive,
mean-acting woman walked into Wal-Mart with her two kids,
yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance.
The Wal-Mart greeter said pleasantly,
'Good morning, and welcome to Wal-Mart'.
Nice children you have there. Are they twins?

The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say,
'Hell no, they ain't. The oldest one's 9,
and the other one's 7.

Why the hell would you think they're twins?
Are you blind, or just stupid?'

'I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am,' replied the greeter.
'I just couldn't believe you got laid twice.

Thank you for shopping at Wal-mart and Have a good day .

charles.........i think the wal mart name has copyrights , no?

Yeah, and let this be a lesson to you all! Check for prior usage before you claim a new word as your own!
