WTD Floppy drive

Postby silvercreekvalley » Thu Aug 23, 2007 3:41 pm

Does anyone have any spare Falcon compatible floppy
drives preferably an original SMD-300 or similar? Having
problems with my drive.

Cheers!

you know you can use any PC drive on a falcon and not even have to cut the precious case either!

just need to change the drive select to 0 from 1

Just trying to keep it original. I actually have a regular
floppy drive in there at the moment :)

I found a source for new SMD-300 drives but they are
quite pricey so wondering if anyone has any spares.

just out of interest how much are those new SMD 300 drives?

yes they are pricey i believe and there's is nothing special about them compared to any other floppy drive

but the fact that they ALWAYS fail i'd be inclined to get a new one in the first place

the ones use in the standard ST were made by Epson/Sony or Chinon and it's always the Epson ones that fail - they're rubbish
