Question: 3rd Party ST disk drives

Postby sanza » Thu Aug 13, 2015 3:57 am

I used to have a doubled sides ST drive that was black with an LED readout on the left(?) that showed what track the drive was on while it was operating. It was most likely purchased in the late 80's because I bought it to replace my ailing sf314 drive. Does anyone know what drive this might have been or who the manufacturer was? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

From memory it sounds like one of the Datel replacement drives, but I'm not 100% certain.
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Following what said Mug UK, perhaps that :

We see a "GTS-100" drive with track display on the left.

I had an external floppy drive with track counter display from a company called "Golden Image".
They were more famous for their optical mouse I suppose, but apparently also had other products.
It's been long dead and gone though.

The GTS-100. That's it! Thank you so much. I've been looking high and low without finding anything. I collect pictures of things I used to own (can't afford the real items) and could not remember what drive this was. Thank you!
