Anyone still remember me? ;-)

Postby Klapauzius » Sat Sep 13, 2014 8:25 pm

Hi friends! :D

I'm really sorry for not replying for such a long time, but as you might imagine, there were a lot of things going on in 'real' life!
Well, I'm still alive (obviously ;-) ), and right now I'm planning to quit my regular job and try to make a living as a self-employed used vinyl record dealer. Vinyl is another great passion of mine (besides Ataris, of course).
This will most probably prohibit near future Atari activites from my side. On the other hand that doesn't mean that I won't be back some day. Just visiting this place makes me want to wire up my Atari machine again (safely packed away in a closet ATM).

Browsing around in the forums a bit it seems that you're all still enjoying your Atari stuff ... and I'm sure I will again, too, some day. :)

Cheers,
Klaz

The tears are welling in my eyes again, I need twenty big buckets to catch them in, twenty pretty girls to carry them down, twenty deep holes to bury them in.

Thanks for popping by - we all miss you Klaz, but I'm glad you're doing something with your life you feel passionately about. I have been freelance for over a year now after 15 years at my last company - it is the best decision I have ever made.

Best of luck and hope to see you again soon! :)

Hi Klaz, nice news!
Thanks for all your work on game patching.
Seeing how you're committed to things (aka passionate, when it comes to games or music) that you do, i'm pretty sure that your attachment to detail will show in your vinyl shop project.

Certainly remember - as very helpful forum member, and as "patcher" :D Hmm, I hope that you will read this replies in this decade yet
Doing game fixes is really time consuming process, what most of people here don't see. And may be very frustrating, considering lot of crappy code and shallow testing. In some cases much more time goes in fixing errors than removing copy protections and making it work from hard disk.
I read recently about that vinyl disks (audio) are again "in", and know couple people which still use them and claims that it has better sound quality than CDs.
So, you have perspective :D Good luck.
Famous Schrodinger's cat hypothetical experiment says that cat is dead or alive until we open box and see condition of poor animal, which deserved better logic. Cat is always in some certain state - regardless from is observer able or not to see what the state is.

Hi all!
thanks for the warm 'welcome'. :)

Dal wrote:I have been freelance for over a year now after 15 years at my last company - it is the best decision I have ever made.

Thanks Dal, that's reassuring. I still feel a bit unsure about my descision, but that's only natural, I guess.
Being 52 years of age now, it has to be now or never. ;-)

wongck wrote:Vinyl ? I read from the local newspaper that there are still some life in them even over here in Asia.

Yep, some of my best customers are from Asia. :) Japan used to be hot, but now it's mainly the Chinese collectors that have taken over.

DarkLord wrote:Hey there Klaz - lots of us were wondering about you and if you had dropped

Yeah, sorry about that. I promise to drop in here more often than I did during the last 2 years!

calimero wrote:and if you have some Deep Purple vinyl's, let me know to help little bit yours business! ;)

I actually think I have. :-) Will send a PM when I'm through with cataloging my current stock, which will take a while (about 11.000 LPs, still not sure how many of these I will keep or will sell!).

calimero wrote:and be sure that many people everyday enjoy yours work!

viking272 wrote:Missing your patched games esp for CT60/CT63!

Thanks! :) Great to hear that at least a few folks appreciate the CT6x fixes! Hope I can spare a little time as soon as the business is running smoothly and get back to a bit of Atari hacking then. The Firebee is still a very tempting machine. ;-)

AtariZoll wrote:Doing game fixes is really time consuming process,

Yes, it certainly is. I see you're still very active: more than 800 game fixes, wow! :)

Welcome back Klaz. I saw your earlier post while skimming the DBug forums and I was happy to see you posting. I was honestly getting a bit worried 8O

Enjoy the record biz. That has always been a big passion of mine and I still work at a record shop in my spare time, on top of my full-time job. Please let us know how we can patronize your new business.

Even if you don't have time for Atari right now, make sure you stop by to post once-in-a-while.
