[Sinclair] - RZX movies for Atari?

I always download movies from the RZX Archive. RZX files is movies of ZX Spectrum games that you run directly from the emulator. The advantage is size and quality, files in just 100 Kb or similar contains a movie of when someone plays through a whole game. (longplay)

RZX Archive

Spin Emulator

FUSE (for Linux)
http://fuse-emulator.sourceforge.net/

Why not something similar for STeem and Hatari?

Off course you can visit lots of longplay sites and download movies of games but then we're talking hundreds of megabytes to several gigabytes in size for just one single movie of a game.

If you download RZX movies to your emulator you will not find any games by Codemasters or Ultimate Play The Game on RZX Archive.

Download them here instead

Tip

If you use ZX Spin set the display to Directdraw and use "enable scanlines" for the best display.

Just saw this post and had been thinking something similar for a while...

Do we have any input recording/playback file format for ST emulators? I haven't heard of any, but it'd be pretty amazing to have the capability of doing a TAS (see tasvideos.org for some examples, like the console emulators and JPC-RR for PC games) of ST games, on at least a VBL frame-by-frame basis.

Othervise it has to be the old fashion way, real movie files, like on World of Longplays.
http://www.longplays.org/

And Amiga Longplays
http://www.recordedamigagames.org/

The quality on these movie files is top notch and the same as to watch the real thing thanks to the awesome matroska compression.

You need a player that can handle matroska and mp4 format

KMplay

Klite

Belive it or not, i have downloaded about 80 gigabyte of longplays the latest 7 days thanks to 100 mbit connection. ;)

It's real enjoyable to watch all these great games from start to finish drinking a cup of coffee.

Right now Sega Genesis is my favourite machine. ;)

Indeed, I love a good longplay! But it would be great to see tool-assisted play as well, with frame advance, savestates and the other tricks those guys use. Watching them completely break the Super Mario World game engine on the SNES, and getting 99 lives from bouncing on an impossible number of consecutive cannonballs without touching the floor in SMB3 was pretty hilarious :)

I don't think that many understand the real beauty of longplays (unlike you and me).

When watching a longplay, just lean back and enjoy the show.

You are going to see everything that you don't see when playing the game. All the details you never noticed was there because you had to focus on the actual playing. What's more? A longplay gives you the feeling of the old times and all the memories comes back when watching a whole game from start to end. And when someone real skilled play you are going to see every secret on every level. A guy played through both Streetfighter Alpha 1, 2 and 3 without getting hitted even once and managed to won all the rounds with a perfect in all three games. That's skill.

I admit that something similar to RZX (with rollback) would be nice to see on Atari too. :)
