AFAIK Jaguar version of Doom didn't use the same levels as PC Doom, like BadMood does (with some pre-game processing), there were some simplifications to them for speed. However, I don't know whether Jaguar Doom level files are compatible with PC Doom, i.e. could one use same level files to get proper comparison between the engines.

It's a while back but I recall Doug saying Jaguar WADs were slightly different to PC WAD format files and BadMooD kept compatibility with the PC format.

Correct - however there is at least one port of the Jag Doom data over to the PC format, which Doug looked at briefly - see http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.ph ... ad#p232499

Maybe you can experiment with the SDL_AUDIODRIVER variable to get better results? (see pmdoom docs)
