BMX Simulator

Postby mlynn1974 » Mon Jun 26, 2017 11:46 pm

Hi,
I was playing BMX Simulator 2 on the Spectrum the other day when I heard a familiar tune, and I was sure I had heard it on the ST.
The tune is on the Easy version of the game an there was an Easy and Hard version of the game on the Speccy.

I checked but only BMX Simulator was released on the ST, not BMX Simulator 2. I thought this was very odd.
I checked the SNDH archive and lo and behold Mad Max did a conversion from the C64 on the ST:

Can anyone confirm if there was a conversion of this tune by David Whittaker on the ST or even a demo of BMX Simulator 2 on the ST?
The Spectrum version has more cymbal effects on one channel than Mad Max's conversion.
Still got, still working: Atari 4Mb STe, 520STFM, 2.5Mb STF.
Hardware: Cumana CSA 354, Ultimate Ripper, Blitz Turbo, Synchro Express II (US and UK Versions).

Hi, neither BMX Simulator 2 or Professional BMX Simulator for ST were never in development according to the "Story of Oliver Twins" book. It was mentioned in Codemasters timeline for the three major 8-bit systems only. It was very common to have a lot of C64 musics converted to the ST By Mad Max as he developed some tools and techniques for the process in the 80's.

A great new book about the ST demoscene tells more about this if you want to dig deeper: https://www.microzeit.com/shop/

Hi, thanks for the info. Some people didn't like BMX Simulator but I thought it was excellent.

I haven't seen the "Story of Oliver Twins" book. I'll try to get that at some time.
The Oliver Twins were on "Dara O Briain's Go 8 Bit" TV Show a few weeks ago where the players played Kwik Snax Dizzy:
