Has anyone completed all 25 levels? I think level 11 is the hardest one I have been at so far. Took me quite some attempts to complete it. Currently I have come as far as level 15. :)

hi,

I've found it here : http://xjehl.com/atari/

Here is a recompiled version of roger.prg, replace the one in auto folder on the floppy.
(ps: i don't remember anything about the comipler's and linker's options)

Someone was working on Roger source :
- Removing drive A dependency
- Porting to Falcon
I've asked him to post modified versions here !

Of course i'm ready to give help !

Bye !

Heh... I was just about to ask if it was going to work for Falacon (as I don't have an ST/STe) heh but my question has been answered.

I really look forward to this being ported to the Falcon - will be awesome.
Since I can't play it is there screenshots to be seen of it somewhere?

Thanks,

Clint Thompson

Héhé,

Porting any software is a difficult task, porting Roger can be a terrible one, because nearly each line of it directly access STE hardware registers and use advanced features of it, or use 'weird' GFA workarounds and call for assembly code i didn't write (degas unpacking and sidsound playback).

Roger was at first a kind of playable tech-demo, then my brother (bibo) came in and acts like a coach (and of course draw some gfxs !). It's look smooth but it's a terrible hack  ...

I've never had any falcon  but it looks quite different ! So don't expect too much, if you don't have any STE, use Steem !

Sylver Surfer :
Yes, i have completed all 25 levels, it's possible without trainer !

Actually I was just about to ask if it was even possible! I got to level 24 with 4 lives so I thought that there was at least a slight chance of completing the game. But at level 24 you have to jump blindly out of the sky to collect... well, I wasn't to good at that. I completed level 24 but unfortunetly I only had one life for level 25 and that didn't last many seconds. I first tried to get up on the left side... that didn't work so then I tried the right side.... game over.

The level editor was gone? Too bad, would have been nice to try some extended levels after I have completed this.... and I will complete it!

Wonderful game!

I think an ascii->level converter might be easy to code, i'm going to try one with Python, did it run under TOS ? However, it would be easy to port to GFA !

(All 25 Levels !)

Here is a ascii level editor, it requires python. (http://www.python.org)

The file "in.txt" is a template containing 25 levels, please use a coder editor ! (python's IDLE just works fine)
-You can add comments with the # prefix
-You can add empty lines

Open roger.py, go to end and edit filenames
Run
Replace TABS.DAT by the output file on the Roger's floppy

of course, a GFA version would be better... details are in roger.py !

wow, fun game! Really enjoy the bubbles :D

That's a unique way to get around and really adds to the feeling of speed in the game, like someone mentioned Sonic the Hedgehog gives you the same type of feeling. Great job and thanks for releasing it.

Some pieces of information...

Postby Cooper » Tue Jan 27, 2004 9:23 am

Some pieces of information : Tobe sent me the GFA sources, and i modified it the last weekend to be HD friendly, and i activated the Trainer option too :)

This weekend i will post the current compiled version (HD fixed + Trainer) here.. 8)

For the Falcon compatibility : imho it will be VERY tricky, because it uses very optimized routs... it surely can be falc-compliant with some efforts, but it will take time... :?

Like we usually say... cross fingers

Just a question... could someone possibly grab some video footage of this and send me a .MOV of it so I can implement it into the next AtariVision video? I can use all the content I can get and this sounds like prime footage (especially for the likes of me which whom can't play it)

Thanks...

Wow, what a cool game! This will definitely tide me over well until the next RG release (hint, hint). :D I can't wait till it's ported over to the Falcon!

Hi,

Did someone tried to build levels ?
A good level designer could greatly improve this game !
If someone interrested, i will try to build a GFA converter, Python doesn't seems to be the right language here...

Sauron :
At level 3 you will find the 'jumping license' test !
don't give it up !

Bye !

MUAHAHAHAAA!!! :D

Yesterday I completed all 25 levels! Yay!!! :)

I have to say that level 25 is pure evil, I had made myself to it a couple of times before with many lives togo but still didn't manage to complete it.

Top Notch game Tobe!!
