Enduro Racer Progress update

Hi
i just want to let you guys know the progress of Enduro Racer.
i have started a new thread, because the old one was a poll.

progress have been slow :lol:
it have mostly been minor optimizations and get acquainted with the code, it have and is pretty hard when you don't have labels or remarks in the code.
so i have not done so much new yet.
but i have add a couple of new things and changes to the games.

remove bike accelerated from move mouse/joystick forward to fire button.
change so the game demo not always start on level 1, but skip a new level every time, the demo start first at level 1 then 2 and 3 ect.
cloud and mountain now being printed using blitter.
have add 2 samples to the program as a test.
optimize the program.
the old program also waited one fps from rendering to showing it.

tomorrow i will start on the new title demo, or maybe remove all the old sound and music from the program.

there will still go some time before i will release it, I still need to do the new highscore system.
but I will hopeful have something to release, before the end of the year.

TT030: 4MB/16MB + Crazy Dots, Mega"SST" 12, STacy 2, MegaSTE, STE: Desktopper case, IDE interface, UltraSatan (8GB + 512Mb) + HXC floppy emulator. Plus some STE's/STFM's

hi Marakatti
i know you love racer games, and special out-run, and I also do :cheers:
but if I should be honest i don't think that i would touch the Atari ST version, its to bad in the first place to do.

Reason why i do Enduro racer is that, i never really played in the arcade(tried it a couple of time) so I don't really have any references to the game, and i played a lot on the ST and thought/think it was actual good to begin with..
and also i read that some where converting it to the Amiga, and they say that the game was pretty bad programmed, so there was room for optimizations and improvement.
I have gone for a long time, and thought that we also need a optimize version. and then i read that Maartau on this forum had the source code,(Maartau was super, to help me start up) then i thought there is no way out, and i need to try do it. :lol:

last thing... I think that if we should do an outrun, it should be done from scratch , but i am not sure that i would be good enough to do it. i got some idea, and i have also converted the music. if some could use it.

For Outrun, maybe would it be easier to start from the Mame version, just like Ghouls and Ghosts ?

maybe one could ask the guys that did recreate the outrun (cannonball outrun) for the pc if he would release the source.
btw if you guys love outrun;please tryout cannonball, it so great :D :)

but i also think that it could be dangerous to use to much of the original code, i think you would hit the hardware limitations of the STE very soon. alone that the system had 2x68000 running 10mhz.

i think we should find out what we want outrun should be on the ST, and what is realistic to do on it.
i know if it was me, it would be done in 16 shade of B/W, i think that would be the best way to let it look as realistic as possible... but that is just maybe a good reason why i should not do it :lol:

sorry don't know anything about the Falcon, i got tired waiting on it, so i went to the PC instead of,
but what dml, have done on falcon, i would say that everything is possible.
and on a side note, he also owe us a good outrun, he was in on the first one :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: (I am only Joking)
