Atari Legend...

Postby Dal » Wed Feb 09, 2011 8:06 pm

Hi - I've had literally 1 pm asking about atarilegend.com.

It has been pulled across from it's old home to its new home within the AF backend however it was generating some smarty compile errors when running. Bit of a head scratcher and I've decided to grab the site again and upload it to rule out 'transfer issues' - currently still uploading, nothing will work until I've reconfigured it. Then we'll see...
FireBee, Falcon -Soundpool case: CT63@95Mhz + 14MB/512MB + 16GB SSD + FPU + Phantom 25/50 + SuperVidel + SoundPool FDI + FA8 + ADAT + Eiffel, TT030: 4MB/16MB + Crazy Dots, Mega"SST" 12, STbook, STacy 2, MegaSTE, STE: Desktopper case, IDE interface, UltraSatan (8GB + 512Mb) + HXC floppy emulator. Plus some STE's/STFM's

I just noticed it not being there on my Speed Dial window but gathered you were doing what you said you were going to be doing :)
Having sold 99.9% of my 1300+ collection of originals, I'm taking a bit of a back seat on the forum. I'll still do the front-of-house admin tasks as and when they're required but, for now, I'm enjoying my Xbox 360 time too much :)

I must admit that I do not visit Atari Legend that often
I have not tried it recently, partly because I was waiting to here you announce that it was back up and running.
Just now I tried it (you do mean http://www.atarilegend.com/) and it results in windows with errors...
Falcon, Atari 520STFM, Atari 1040STE, more PC's than I care to count and an assortment of 8 bit micros (nearly forgot the Psion's)

Indeed it does :(

Spent some time on it yesterday and I can't fathom it yet. If anyone out there is well versed with the inner workings of Smarty php templates, get in touch via pm...

Being an abandoned site doesn't make it attractive anymore these days.

Well it's all working again now, so it could be active again if anyone's willing to get involved.

It still has the biggest repository for screen shots, even for almost all PD games. :)

I usually check AL for screenshots, comments, and box-scans first. Whether it gets future updates or not, it's still an amazingly useful collection.

AL is still a great resource and I think it only needs some involved people. Sadly I have no PHP and SQL skills nor the free time to learn them...

Can users add information automatically? Screenshots, review scans etc? Or does all contributions require Sys Admin to post them?

It really needs to become a Media Wiki based system (moderated/with registration) that way it will continue to get updates as users contribute but has no custom back end.

Users can only post comments or send info to an admin with the "add info" link on a game's page. The back-end for the site is pretty complex/shaky as it is but a simpler version of it (with just credits, screenshots, box scan sort of fields) would be a nice thing to make available to users who register. It would be tricky to set up though.

This is a great idea. However I think it would require a bit of manpower to maintain. A fully unmoderated database could fastly run out of hand.

Well I'm not a huge fan of that Wiki-thing... also it would be really nice if everybody could add productions ... like on pouet.
