Need help tracking down Martin Brownlow

Postby rich » Fri Jun 06, 2008 6:54 pm

Hi all,

This is a long-shot, but does anyone here have a current contact address for Martin Brownlow? (he of Grav, Chaos, Grav 2, etc fame)

I've been searching around and it appears he worked on Missile Command 3D for the Jaguar, before moving to Shiny and doing MDK and Sacrifice, but the trail goes pretty cold after that. I've found a book he may have written too. Just figured I would ask - you never know what might turn up :)

Cheers,

Rich

Hi Rich,

Did you ever get hold of him?
Maybe you could ask for the source code to Chaos?

I've been thinking about a few mods and tweaks...

i absolutely LOVED Chaos - me and a friend would spend ages playing it! i loved it so much that I started a version of it on the PC which has kind of fallen by the wayside. plays exactly the same but loads LOADS more shovelled on top! might have a game of Chaos now actually....

It is a top game. My brothers and I used to play the Spectrum 48k version to death and were still doing so when we discovered it for the Atari ST. I ordered it from a PD library hoping it was the same version and we couldn't believe how cool a game it was! (Obviously being big fans of Blackadder, Red Dwarf and Monty Python helps!)
There are a few versions for the PC now some of which are available with source code (C++) but they've tweaked them so much that I didn't like their versions...
A networked version for FreeMiNT would be awesome - that could play with other users over the internet in an 8/8 battle to the death. Absolutely splendid or just Maaaarvelllous!

I'm guessing he did. Rich has developed a Abombinaball remake for flash. On his website it mentions that Martin Brownlow gave him permission to release it. I reviewed it on my blog, have a look here. There are also links to the website and the game.

Hi everyone,

can anyone point me to a working ST image of Chaos?

I had a copy on my old PC (which I got around 10 years ago from another message board), but subsequently emigrated and now that HDD is in my mum's attic several thousand miles away :(

I can't find it in any of the usual places...

I forgot to mention that I did get hold of Martin Brownlow a few months after the original posting and he also gave permission for me to recreate the Chaos game.
The plan was to do a networked version with my brothers, but life got in the way for us; as we met chicks, got married, bought houses that needed doing up and had babies!
My Falcon has been packed away for ages now and even the CT63 was never fitted. Gulp. I actually need to fix the nemesis upgrade that's a little patchy first then fit CT63...one day... i hope.
