ST Hardware hacks site

Postby ppera » Wed Apr 11, 2007 12:10 pm

I found it after some Googling.

How things often go in Atari world is visible there:
http://atari4ever.free.fr/hardware/drives.html

Taking project from someone's WEBsite without asking for permission,
making ZIP archive from, with shortened content, forgetting to put all relevant pages and instructions, and of course no word about original author...

I talk about archive ATARIIDE.ZIP

I sent mail to site maintainer. How much % that will get any reply? :D

That site haven't been maintained for quite some time now. (almost 8 years now I think)

The original website disappeared aswell for a while, luckily someone mirrored it.

Yeah, it has some incomplete stuff there, but still he was going about it in a much nicer way than the DOIT archiver, who blatantly copied other peoples work and put his own copyright on it.

I think ProTos mirrored it on his site. The whole content should still be there.

Some VERY cool news... A IDE controller (drives section) for your ST... a very nice work from Pera Putnik!

Vezz never takes credits for himself for the work from another people.

I got mesage that contact e-mail address is invalid - what a surprise !

I didn't say that someone took credits - just that there is no word about author in ZIP archives. Worse is that project is with incomplete documentation...

That was eight (8) years ago.

Were your IDE project completely documented at that time?

I mean, 8 years since he did the mistake.... and you get upset now?

I put project on WEB somewhere in 1998. Complete, of course. They left out complete page about IDE IF, and put only short explanation about BigDOS usage.

Upset? Not really, I became used to all sort of bad behaviour. Just posted what I saw. As expected writing mail there was just waste of time.
Some people like not to communicate - as site where is Win port of Hatari - but there is little better - even no contact mail address :D

Still I suppose it brought a lot of projects together on one page for reference from an audiance which may have otherwise missed it. But of course it is better to have complete works & acknowledgments of the developers & Authors.

I was looking for that website! Thanks for the links!

I know, that's not the point of the thread.
