FTP sites currently working

Postby nobogod » Wed Jan 03, 2007 1:32 pm

A lot of Atari related FTP sites, but they often don't live for long. The landscape is rapidly changing.
So, let's gather here all these that are currently working.
Let me make a start:

ftp://www.fatal-design.com/
ftp://ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/pub/atari/
ftp://ftp.padua.org/pub/atari
ftp://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/atari/
ftp://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/atari/
ftp://www.funet.fi/pub/atari/
ftp://atari.org/pub/
ftp://atari.st/ (empty)

And of course the latter ones:
Sniperstorm's: ftp://stguild-bbs.dyndns.org
and Keili's: ftp://keilis-atari.dyndns.org

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Edit] Sites added:
Marcer's: ftp://Demo:Demo@marcer.dyndns.org:1698/
Falcon Games (Web): http://themac.homeip.net/50108002/
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please, append more to this list, but check first if they are actually working.

This topic is a good idea, I have put a link to it in my "Idiots Guide to getting ST games" post. :)

nobogod, the contents of the Berlin and Padua FTPs are identical, are they mirrored or are they actually the same server? :?

I tried to access Keili's FTP site as listed on this link ( ftp://keilis-atari.dyndns.org/ ), and it asked for a user name and password. Who do I contact for this?

Anonymous login should always be possible until the user limit has been reached. I will check it this afternoon.

Are you going to have an entire school board access this ftp or something? I am afraid you will quickly reach the limit. Also, I want to attend you school if you use Atari ST regularly in the curriculum.

No, this is purely for my collection of ST software. But, back in the late 80's and early 90's I did use the ST extensively in my art classes as I used a gradebook program on my Atari ST, as well as publishing the school newspaper on my ST using PageStream. I now have a 520ST, two 1040 ST's, a 1040 STE and a Mega 2 ST with dual TOS chips which I can toggle between, as well as another toggle to switch between low/medium and high resolution on a single 14" PixelLab multiscan monitor. I have a Megafile 30 hard drive as well as a 100 MB SCSI Zip drive running on newly purchased HD Driver 8.2. This allows me to trade files between a PC with a ZIP drive installed. My collection also includes two 8-bit 800XL's and two 8-bit 130XE's with two 1050 drives with US Doubler chips, and a XF551 drive.

I was a past member of the Tinker Atari Computer Enthusiasts (T.A.C.E.) out of Tinker Air Force Base where I held several offices as well as S.T.I.X. (ST Information Exchange) out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. The ST is most likely a life-long hobby.

@mcloudtek

You're quite the enthusiast! Make sure to post here often, as you probably know your stuff. It's always nice to talk to like-minded individuals, as I'm sure you feel judging by your involvement in user groups/info exchanges.

Hope to see you around.

He's been having a few problems due to his place flooding just before Xmas so the FTP is offline at present (as far as I'm aware).
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Very nice. It's good to have a sort of mirror of these. Before, it was pretty much the one site (Coin de Tof) that had them.

Normally you don't need a password. I've noticed some time ago, that the program asks for one. This happens, if someone tries to hack my server  . The result is, that no one can login :( .
I will restart the program this evening. http should always work, btw.
