Also let's not forget that the main interest in ijor's core seems to be on how it can be used to improve other cores.

The greasemonkey solution works for me, in fact I modified it to hide "FPGA" posts as well. I'm by no means an expert at greasemonkey scripts. After some JQuery googling:

Code: Select all

$("li").show().has("a:contains('MiST'),a:contains('FPGA')").hide();

I like this solution since it doesn't impact others and I can click it off at any time to see what's going on.

lp: how do you install this script? Also, is it possible to extend to Unread posts?

Mikro, LP posted a part of Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey script.
You have to add a header to it. A complete script you can find it in my post #1.
You can also add other pages like Unread posts with "@include" directive:

Code: Select all

// @include http://atari-forum.com/search.php?search_id=unreadposts
Jaugar / TT030 / Mega STe / 800 XL / 1040 STe / Falcon030 / 65 XE / 520 STm / SM124 / SC1435
SDrive / PAK68/3 / CosmosEx / SatanDisk / UltraSatan / USB Floppy Drive Emulator / Eiffel / SIO2PC / Crazy Dots / PAM Net
Hatari / Steem SSE / Aranym / Saint

Not sure it matters, but point your browser at this forum first just in case.
Click the greasemonkey icon and then "new user script..."
A tab with an editor appears.
Paste in the script and click the small "disk icon" to save it.
Close the tab and that's it.
Give it test run. ;)

I think the goal is more to provide 100% ST compatible HW for people interested in ST, which can optionally run also much faster than the original HW, offer better compatibility to modern displays and faster disk.

As the same FPGA device can run also other HW implementations (Amiga, Archimedes, SinclairQL, C64, VIC-20, x86 etc), people interested in those might also try ST. After all, Atari has also 100% legal / open source ROM / OS (EmuTOS), which should make testing ST much easier than e.g. Amiga.

I am not talking about the goal of the st core, but the point of including so much content unrelated to the st in an st forum.

Oh man, thank you so much. For all the others who have actually no idea at all like I used to ;), TamperMonkey is a Chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... fkfo?hl=en.

So you install that and then follow lp's guide (it's slightly different in Chrome but you'll get the idea). I have created "the final script", merged all the suggestions together + added unanswered posts as well. Works a treat!

Code: Select all

// ==UserScript==
// @name     AtariForum.com - MiST & FPGA
// @version  1
// @grant    none
// @include    http://atari-forum.com/search.php?search_id=active_topics
// @include    http://www.atari-forum.com/search.php?search_id=active_topics
// @include    http://atari-forum.com/search.php?search_id=newposts

// @include    http://atari-forum.com/search.php?search_id=unreadposts
// @include    http://www.atari-forum.com/search.php?search_id=unreadposts
// @include    http://atari-forum.com/search.php?search_id=unanswered
// @include    http://www.atari-forum.com/search.php?search_id=unanswered
// @require    http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.0/jquery.min.js
// @run-at   document-end
// ==/UserScript==

(function() {
    'use strict';
    var $ = window.jQuery;
    $("li").show().has("a:contains('MiST'),a:contains('FPGA')").hide();
})();

Sometimes under Linux Mint with Firefox I need to load the site twice (active topics) to make the script do its job. Does anybody know what could be the problem?

BTW thanks a lot for the tip and the script.

Yeah, I have just noticed that, too. For me it worked to jump into another 'section' (i.e. from unread to active and back from the left menu), no need to reload the whole page.
