STE DUAL TOS KIT PRE-ORDER

Postby exxos » Thu Apr 28, 2016 9:38 am

I keep getting asked about fitting dual-tos into a STE, so here it is available for pre-order of £18. Price will increase to £25 once the pre-ordering period has ended in about a weeks time.

This board will hold TOS1.62 and TOS206 an be switchable via a jumper (or toggle switch) on the board. While this is setup for a UK TOS, other lang's can be programmed in due time.

This board also doubles up as "fast-tos" for the upcoming simple STE booster. So if anyone is looking to order the STE booster (not yet designed, but soon!) then this board will be a must.

Cool. Is it very difficult to switch TOS version with a key press combination? Like this:

I don't know how that would work ?. Likely it would greatly complex a otherwise simple upgrade.

A flying lead with a clip to the 68000 pin 18 (RESET) with another to an event signal (keyboard I/O pin?) on a reset event a flip-flop captures this state for the SELECT? Shouldn't over complicate anything. No nasty switches.

Wouldn't flip the TOS version each reset though ? The keyboard is a serial device, so likely would need some decoding to patch it to the keyboard events. Likely would be better to patch into a address in RAM and have software change the flipflip and issue a reset. Though that would need a PLD programming, software writing, aka lot of work.

If someone wants to design a circuit to bolt onto the design then they can do so, if its simple enough I could include it on later designs. Though its something I just dont have time to look into currently :(

This is plug in yes. Though you may need to alter the jumper links on the motherboard depending what ROM's are in there.
