Everything else worked fine except Carrier Command (sounds like a loading error in Saint), Curse disk 1 (Can't read directory) and still the Another World disk 2.

Okay, I'll try Carrier Command, Curse of the Azure Bonds disk1, and Another World Disk2 again later on tonight (Sunday).

I couldn't look at that link for the picture - it said it was forbidden.

If it has a big Data East logo on the box and Batman character instead of golden Batman-logo and Ocean-logo then it's USA-release. Although if UK-release is sold in USA then there should be no difference between them I guess.

Thanks again :)

I'll upload everything this weekend if possible, sorry for the delay... I think if everything works we just hit the 1800 pasti titles limit.

Nice!

To be honest though, probably some of those will have to be redone, if my past successful completion
rate is any indication. It's okay though, we'll keep trying and get as much as we can.

I've still got a few more titles from the list so I'll work on them tonight, barring any interference.

Okay, another 5 pack:

The Immortal

Obitus

Obsession

Omega

Populous (original)

Just let me know which ones need re-pastied (is that a verb? :) ) and I'll redo them
as soon as I can.

Won't be able to do any more for a few days - I work all weekend, Fri-Sat-Sun, 12.5 hour
shifts. I am off work next week though, barring any major changes so I'm hoping to be
able to finish what titles I have from the missing Pasti images list.

Cya. :)

Big thanks again :)

There are still problems with the following titles:
Another World (can't open archive)
Curse of Azure Bonds disk 1 (read error)
Falcon disk 1 (read error)
Infestation (black screen and keep looping the same loading sequence)

Knightmare version we are after is an old Activision release, not the later Mindscape RGP but thanks anyway ;)

And yes, it was time for Pasti-dump number 1800 :)

Okay, I just re-uploaded some new attempts for these titles - I uploaded Another World
in 3 different archives - rar, zip, and tar.gz. Hopefully one will unarchive without errors.

Marakatti wrote:Infestation (black screen and keep looping the same loading sequence)

I booted this game up on my STacy - seems to work fine, at least I got as far as the
surface of the planet and started killing things.

Even so, I tried redoing it about 5-6 times, and kept getting sync error, out of range
messages. I'll try again later.

Now all the archives opened. I have to admire your patience in middle of all this :)

So finally when I got to look at Another World disk 2 it seems disk 1 is the one with problem. I checked some cracked versions and also french pasti original and none of them asks for disk 2 at the same point where the current file does.

So I guessed that if there's a file game can't load it automatically asks for disk 2.

I tested it by booting your file and when it asked for disk 2 I inserted French disk 1. And yes, it loads intro and the game in english. So disk 1 is the problematic one.

Falcon 1.0 and COAB still reports disk error so maybe these can't be pastified, there's an error on original game disk or disks are unprotected?
Could you still give one shot with some other tool like MSA?

Ijor: If you're around could you give your opinion please.

No problem - I usually set one of my machines to doing the images while I go do something else. :)

Alright, so I need to try Another World disk -1-, Falcon 1 and Curse of the Azure Bonds disk 1 again.

Gotta work the next couple of days, be off Wed/Thurs so I'll try them again then. I'll also go ahead
and try to MSA all 3 and send that as well.

Thanks!

Okay, had a few hours to kill this evening. :)

So I retried the following and uploaded them:

Another World, disk 1
Curse Of The Azure Bonds, disk 1
Falcon, disk 1
Infestation

I also did Another World, disk 1 in MSA format then zipped it up and uploaded it.
COTABs disk one, Falcon disk one, and Infestation would not work with MSA. :(

I had time enough to try 2 other titles as well:

Prince Of Persia - The Hit Squad

Rocket Ranger - Lucasfilms

As usual, just let me know what doesn't work and I'll try again. :)

PS I've got a copy of The Secret Of Monkey Island - wow! None of
the 4 disks would work with MSA (says it can't read their boot
sectors), and they all gave an out of sync error with Pasti. Hope
someone else can get that one for you - doesn't look like I can. :(

Thanks, and cya...

Many thanks, very much appreciated as always :)

The great news is that Another world finally works, it's awesome to have the english version finally archived :) Also Infestation runs fine.

COTAB and Falcon still refuses to work. So If other formats fail aswell I guess we should give up with them. I compared the previous file sizes and Falcon for example falls under 500kb. So clearly there's some data missing from the disk as single sided STX should be something around 900kb and double sided around 1800kb.

I had time enough to try 2 other titles as well:
Prince Of Persia - The Hit Squad
Rocket Ranger - Lucasfilms

Prince of Persia runs perfectly, but all Rocket Ranger disks behaved just like Falcon and COTAB. Image goes straight to GEM and reports disk error message.

PS I've got a copy of The Secret Of Monkey Island - wow! None of

sectors), and they all gave an out of sync error with Pasti. Hope

Lucky you, it really looks great on the gameshelf these days :)

But don't worry, we can't save them all... Besides I strongly suspect that the game is 100% similar to UK version as it originally came from USA. So if there's no loading screen differences I think it's safe to move USA-version together with UK-version.

Whew, well, at least some progress is being made!

I'll give Falcon1 and COTAB1 one more try, and I'll
retry Rocket Ranger.

Gotta work all weekend - dang 12.5 hour shifts plus
*some* sleep equals little time to do much else (eat?) :)
so it'll be Mon/Tues... and I'll try to add some new
titles as well - I've still got a few from your list that
seem to be missing.

Cya then. :)

Okay, I don't have a real good feeling about some of these retries - as you mentioned,
the file size after using Pasti just seems...light. :(

Anyway, I redid:

Curse Of The Azure Bonds disk 1
Falcon disk 1
Rocket Ranger, disks 1,2, and 3

Tried these titles for the first time:

Rogue
Shadow Of The Beast
Typhoon Thompson

I also gave Ultima 2 a valiant attempt. I tried it on my STacy, my Mega ST, etc,
and on both machines it would run varying lengths of time and then quit with
that out of sync range error, and always saved the file at 16 bytes. Yep, bytes.

Anyway, take a look at these and give me an update.

Later... :)

I am going to have to setup something to get my dumps back over to the PC.. or MAC

I am thinking of linking the ST to the Falcon then either I will burn a CD..... or use a ZIP disk and get them to the Mac.. Both PC's are down for the moment.. and the Zip Mac isn't setup!

Ok here we go (tested with both STeem and SainT)

- Barbarian II (Palace) - works

- Curse of the Azure Bonds disk 1 - broken, the same error than previous times.

- Falcon disk 1 - broken, the same error than previous times.

- Better Dead than Alien - works, but game has to be loaded from "Game" folder. Could you boot it on real ST and see how it behaves?

- Rogue - works

- Rocket Ranger - broken, all three disks produce the same GEM read error than previous times.

- Star Fleet I - works

- Shadowlands - broken, at least disk 1. Reset after short intro animation. Couldn't check disk 2.

- Shadow of the Beast - works

- Space Quest - works

- Starbust - broken, at least disk 1. Goes straight to GEM. couldn't check the others

- Turrican 2 - works

- Typhoon Thompson - works

- Ultima 4 - broken, at least disk 1. Keeps resetting in loading, couldn't check disk 2.

- Venus the Flytrap - works

Okay, I retried Shadowland, disk 1 and 2, and Ultima 4, disk 1. Got my doubts, after
multiple runs, file sizes either stayed the same or in U4's case, shrank... :(

I also checked Better Dead Than Alien. It doesn't have an AUTO folder on my disk,
it has the program, then the program again, in a folder with one other file. I have
to dbl-click to start it.

As far as I can tell, this pretty well covers all the titles that I've got from your list.

I'll check the list again as soon as I get a chance, to make sure that I didn't miss
anything.

Sorry about the other titles I failed on, after probably 10-20 runs on each, I'm getting
negative results. I surely do hope someone else can get them done.

Thanks!

Sorry it took this long. I just got a new fulltime job which slows things a bit.
Yes it seems we can't get these ones running for now. But no worries, we will try to locate another copies.

I checked the Euro-version and it seems to be otherwise identical with no extra screens so your USA-version helped to confirm that they most probably were produced from the same masterdisk. Same goes for SotB, Turrican II and Starfleet so they were very valuable. Typhoon and Venus wasn't the exact versions we were looking for but it's still good to have another copies of them for future.

As far as I can tell, this pretty well covers all the titles that I've got from your list.

You've done a hell of a job. I know how slow and tedious it is to make Pasti-files so we appreciate it very very much :)

Sorry about the other titles I failed on, after probably 10-20 runs on each, I'm getting

Well, you helped a lot to confirm many titles to be identical with European "cousins". And most importantly archived many important games and releaseversions that might otherwise got lost forever, especially when they come from USA so there's nothing to be sorry about

Apart from Ultima 4 they are quite common games so I'm sure they will pop out someday from some other source. And Pasti isn't perfect either, there are some titles that can't be archived yet.

So many thanks one again :)
