N.AES seems to be corrupting some data structures that leads to the crashes.

Running it on MyAES and XaAES does not crash it, as the data structure remains intact. So I am not sure what's going on with N.AES.

I have traced the corruption happens after an VDI call to draw a text/line.... so I am at a lost.

So now I left it alone for a few days and try over the weekend.
Some progress.... I think.
if I compile it to 68000 code, the poo runs and do not corrupt the data structures.
WSH. Same code different CPU target. At least I can work on the GUI now.

Seems to not crash if I leave VDI settings like colour/width as defaults.

Uploaded PHGMap v2,3 to PHSW webpage.

This version revamped the drop-down menu and edit field.
Some optimisation in GUI logics and removal of redundant redraws.

The cursor handling is much improved, cheers.

When I double-click to open street view, it opens a window with the unused area all gray. If any sort of redraw occurs on this window, the gray area suddenly turns red. I assume this is not normal.

Also if I open the address window and drag another window over top of it, it draws the cursor in the one being dragged over it making quite a mess.

Hopefully you can reproduced these. If not I can make snapshots or a video.

Thanks for reporting these issues.

There should not be any unused window region on the Street view window as the requested image from Google is the size of the window, except that it is constrained to 640 x 640 ( the max size of free street view image). My guess is that you mean when you resize the window to bigger than 640 x 640. The RED fills is a artifact remains of the fill colour for the "man" on the map window. So it is behaving as programmed/normal but not as humanly "expected" (Flashes of RED is not good). Guess I have to reset the fill colour back to gray after drawing the "man" or just restraint the resize rubber band from getting any larger than 640x640 (it would be more fun to solve it with this rather than the easier single line of resetting the fill colour).

TBH, I never dragged any window over the address window ( I open, type in a address and OK). The cursor redraws are outside the "clipped" drawing areas, which explains what you see.

I will look at this in detail when I get back from work.

I didn't resize the window, it opens larger than it should be right when I double-click. Looks to be around 800x640 or so if I had to guess.

I have exactly the same problem as Lonny reported it. But when I copied configuration file from previous version to the new one the problem disapeared. Seems like PHGmap stores window size and position into the configuration file?

Thanks for reporting.

Yes, Street view window is properly saved into the file cfg. Only the About window position & size is not saved. All other windows position/size are saved.

Ah now I remember, there was a small error previously that does not save the size.
Please resize it to be smaller - click on the lower right corner & drag. The new size will be saved into the CFG file.

While we are discussing it ... btw. thanks for the further development of one of my best application on my FireBee Wongck! :)

I have one more sugestion for the further development if it makes sense to you. I am really glad you implemented coordinate reading of the jpegs and put marker to the map where it was taken. I am using that feature. But it would be really cool if PHGmap would read coordinates of all jpegs contained in selected folder and put marks of all jpegs on the map. Selecting of the mark would open the picture. Cool feature would be also if you could select prefered external picture viewer and call it to open selected picture.

Just a proposal ... ;)

Thanks for trying out PHGmap.

I have uploaded a new build with fixes for the edit field drawing over windows and tighter windows size enforcement.

Please do report back any issues found. Much appreciated. :megaphone:

Thanks again for your ideas on features for the application, this is indeed a good idea.

Here's a quick analysis using current available codes already inside PHGMap, for re-usability.

There is a limit of 2048 bytes of data that can be transferred to Google for rendering of the map. Each photo information is taking 60-70 bytes. The basic map request is taking around 200 bytes. That's excluding any markers that takes about 50 bytes each with a max of 450 bytes for 9 markers. This leaves around 1300 bytes for the photos information - I have not counted the uuencoding.
So you can have a max of only around 20 photos in a folder.

On to jumping to each photo on clicking on a marker. The current map markers are put in by Google as a image, so there is no way of knowing which markers belong to which photo. You will need great accuracy to click on the screen map to the exact GPS location on the photo, so an approximation will be needed here.

Looks like this needs new codes/method as current available codes do have limitation.

That was just a proposal. But I would use this feature a lot :)
If you have energy, skills and will to implement that it would be grat.
If not, PHGmap will be used by me still a lot and one of my favourite app ;)

Since PH GMap is fixed for N.AES now ( I hope) , I will fix the other applications.
Then I will come back to this new feature as I already have something in my mind.

After I use CTPCI again, today I tried to run PHGmap (the latest version) and now I use MiNT + Xaaes + Thing or Teradesk setup, but after launching it immediately gets a black screen and I have to turn off the computer

Thanks for reporting.
I am not sure why the settings kills the OS.
It should not, as they looks independent from display resolution.

That does not kill the system, but I just wanted to say that at the moment, as OL sent me yours Myaes 0.97 again works for me.

Updated PH Gmap

Version 2.4:
  • Drag & drop photos on to PH GMAP & it will create thumbnail and display on the map.
  • Click on the thumbnail to display the photo on your JPG viewer.
  • Print out maps and street views on your GDOS printer.
  • Add SSL support as some Google Maps API are now SSL only.
  • Updated Google API for geo-coding due to changes in Google web services.
  • Removed Photo display feature, now uses the system photo viewer for better photo support.

Yes, one of the first thing I tried was using double quotes and single quotes.
But this is the error I get from THING.

Seems like THING included the quote as part of the filename (extension in this case). 8O
On the TOS.HYP, it says I should use single quotes but it does not seems to work for THING. :(

IDK

I also tried with Jinnee desktop, and it also works - long files names with spaces.
But the zView must be running before hand.

IDK what's with THING.
Is THING now opensource ?
